The Approach
Inevitably, they came to the end of the plain. Cazaril urged his tired horse forward and up the steep path toward the Zangre.

His young charges were eager, craning their necks to peer between their mounts’ ears and catch another glimpse of their new life. Even dy Sanda showed curiosity around the edges of his customary caution.

Hadn’t Cazaril faced down the Roknari general who’d taken his sword and condemned him to the galleys without betraying a hint of fear?

He was damned if he would show this merry troupe the least sign that he was bone-deep sick with dread.
