SERIES FINALE OF DOCTOR WHO

My review of the finale of Doctor Who is a little late because of my stupid work schedule, but this maybe the only episode I place some deep thought into.

EPIC, that's the word that comes to mind with what the aim of the series finale was about. The only problem was it really didn't hit the epic mark in my opinion.

Obviously, my uneasy feeling about the episode steams from the fact that they couldn't create a way to say goodbye to the character of Donna without having her year with the Doctor disappear. It feels like a complete slap in the face as a viewer, that the writers couldn't come up with a more creative method in ending Donna's run as the Doctor's companion. I really despise the fact that Donna had to lose all her memories with the Doctor. I know it's slightly better than "the year that did not exist" but to me, this season was the exact same thing because Donna will not have any memories with her time with the Doctor, so she has lost a year of her life.

I was so excited when Donna became the female version of the Doctor. I had these hopes of Donna Noble "Time Lady". Then they have to go and ruin with never having to deal with a human Time Lord and the only way to "save" her was to remove her memories. Really was not at all happy about that -- the only good thing was the Doctor telling Sylvia to show her appreciation for her daughter.

Jumping around a little, but it was a complete waste having the return of all the companions. There really wasn't a reason to have all the companions return for the finale. The companions driving the TARDIS was cute but dumb beyond believe, although, I did love that the Doctor would not allow Jackie participating in the driving of the TARDIS, but really what role did Mickey, Jackie and even Sarah Jane have in the episode?

The finale of series four was suppose to end the chapter of RTD's Doctor Who and I think they did that completely. I think it's fair to say, goodbye, Martha, Jack, Rose, Sarah Jane and Donna. I cannot foresee any of the prior companions rejoining the Doctor know that SM is taking the lead writing spot. I think for this reason, that it was the end of the RTD Who era I didn't really enjoy the series finale. I feel that it was a little too rushed, would have been better if this was a gradual process that the finale would have been saved for Donna's goodbye, but that's just me.

For those who are Doctor/Rose fans, you may want to stop now :D

The minute I saw that there was a second Doctor I knew all the hype about a Doctor remaining with Rose was true. I didn't think I would be happy about it, and at heart I don't think I was truly happy about it. Our Doctor is left alone and unhappy yet again. He remembers his time with Rose and he knows that she wont be coming back and that she will be living her life with this Alt!Doctor. I know it was something he wanted to give/gift to Rose but as a Rose/Doctor shipper I wasn't completely happy.

I really felt it was out of characher for Rose to kiss Alt!Doctor after saying that he loves her, well I assume that is what he said. I felt that was very un-Rose, she had to know it hurt the Doctor and yet she did it. Didn't feel right to me.

Mind you as I say all this, I was happy that Rose was against staying in Alt!Universe. I was giddy that the Doctor said that she had to stay with him and "fix" this Doctor like he "fixed" him. It was an homage to the Ninth Doctor, which did make me happy.

As, you read this I'm sure you are wondering how there is a squee involved. But I was so happy that Rose had her Doctor, a Doctor that she could live the rest of her life I was happy about that even though I didn't like how it happened. Then again, that had more to do with the fact that RTD was trying to end his era.
