At this very moment, my tax refund is being processed into my account. Wow...the miracle of modern technology, eh? Its powers to screw & soothe never cease to amaze.
Work is all-consuming. Remodeling is underway. I'm jackin' frames like a homeless guy at the burning of the louvre, lol. (there's a mental pic, eh?) K has already emptied out two entire dumpsters filled to the brim w/junk. It completely and utterly boggles my mind, that in the entire two years that they've owned the place, they have never gone through the back rooms & the back shop. It's actually a little frightening, b/c it means they were just too fucked to actually get time to do it. They bought the place blind too, which is amazing. They didn't know how to deal w/the equipment, how to do the framing bit, and now...just now ~ It's like it's finally becoming her/their business. That's really cool to watch unfold and be part of. (though it's a little daunting to be swept up in at the same time.)
It's as if 2008 is destined to be the year of exploding possi bilities, colliding realities and the burning off of the ends so they don't fray any more. lol. Not that that makes any sense, but I beg your pardon. I was up till 1:30 last night chatting w/a very nice someone.
It's crazy how we're all a part of this great big thing, but no one really knows exactly what that thing is. Of course, that statement probably sounds like the most pot-induced saying you've heard lately/so far. So many people seem familiar these days - you, me, the man in the moon. And it's funny how we get so petty sometimes, screaming about these injustices being done unto us, and overlooking the fact we do the same thing. (Gawd, I'm on a ramble, aren't I? I should go to bed!)
Meanwhile, one last thing, promise! - The boss is bringing her photography studio into the photo lab, (opening June 1 2008.) I've told you she has a partner in the studio, right? Well, the partner - Spacey (a home grown nickname if I've ever given one), is just being a jerk about things. K owns the name of the(ir) studio, and their tagline is "Custom Photography." (For purposes of presumed anonymity, we'll call it Photo Magic.) So Photo Magic is the name that K owns. Well Spacey is planning on splitting up completely - and she's calling "her" business Photo Magic Custom Photography. She's already made business cards to that effect. Is that some bullshit or what? Acc. to K, since she only has rights to Photo Magic, technically Spacey can get away with it, and K will just have to stick w/"Photo Magic." Which to me, if you took that to court, we'd win hands down, b/c A) K owns the name and it's blatantly obvious Spacey stole the name after being her partner. But (hopefully) it won't come down to that. Spacey is also being a bitch and acting like she's the one expanding the business. She's got the Belvieu Asylum thinking that she's the owner and K is just the help, an attitude which has crossed over into their friendship and professional environment. } Anyway, I got on my little red wagon and made up a sign saying that the new studio is coming soon. It came out just awesome/so much better than I expected. ( I will have to jack the picture so you know I'm not talking out my ass.) So I was like, we need to frame this and K needs to post this up in the old studio. After all, it's announcing their "expansion," right? :P So I went back and found one of our frames, dug out a matte, but we got busy before I could do anything else w/it. Well, K came in all pissed off from a session over there, but when she saw it - she totally brightened up. She immediately took it back and framed it, then dug out an easel and we put it in the front of the shop. :-) Even cooler than that though was tonight. My dad asked me where we had gotten the sign from that was in the front, about the new studio. I was like, I made it. It was K's picture, but I did the layout, found the frame & matte, & K assembled it. He wanted to take it into work and show it off, what I had done. :) Aww! *beams* sniff...That just made my millennium.
