Some people say money is the root of all evil. Hmmm...maybe so...maybe no. I wonder what would the world be like if money or any type of currency didn't exist. In Star Trek, money doesn't exist, everything is done for "the benefit of man kind." And that world seems to be a utopia except for the occasional Clingon invasion. If there was no money in the world, I don't think we would turn into star trek, I think we would destroy ourselves. It is the rule of dominance-- everyone can't be equal, I have to be better than you and you have to be better than me. Money is the main way that this rule of dominance is carried out--The poor are weak and the wealthy are powerful. If you take it away, then we will find another way to make ourselves better than eachother. One horrible possibility is that human life will replace money. The power to kill will make people better than the other. We will become feral and savage beings. Slavery and gladiator type contest will return to carry out the rule of dominance. Of course money can be used for good and charity. But there are other types of charity not involving money just as there are other types of evil that don't involve money. Basically, money is not evil or good, it is merely a manifestation of both. Good and evil can find alternative ways to achieve their purposes.
Yet the plausibility of money eventually being extinct is slim. Because it is so damn hard to let go of. Our whole system is based around it. Its hard to imagine a system without. Also I am a religious man. Money is all the time mentioned in the Bible as ways of punishment and damages and other things. I think God recognized that we need the stabilizing factor of money. It is for our homeostasis. It is also a test to see if we will use it for good or evil. We decide which is right.
