Not long to go now!
A little bit scary since I haven't done any preparation yet, but Bacchus and I decided last night that after we've touched up the paintwork round the new sockets, we won't start anymore major DIY stuff until the new year. For one thing he's got lots of stuff to do for the start of his Master of Wine course and also I think we deserve a bit of a break. I'll probably still do some planning and choose the rest of the paint we need, but I think that'll be enough along with unpacking and Christmas baking to keep me more than occupied.
To try and organise myself and to make the best use of what little time I have left before Christmas I think I need to write a
Christmas To Do list:
1. Buy Christmas cards
2. Write foreign cards and post them very soon
3. Make Christmas cake for in-laws
4. Make mincemeat
5. Check if there's a Christmas pudding left over from last years batch for in- laws, if not, make Christmas Puddings
6. Finish buying presents
7. Wrap presents that need posting and post them.
8. Wrap other presents
9. Put up Christmas tree
10. Make pastry for mince pies
11. Make truck loads of mince pies for: in-laws, office, parents, us.
12. Make cranberry sauce for in-laws
13. Make brandy butter for in-laws
I'm sure I've forgotten several things, so I suspect this will need updating more than once.
Even though I'm totally unprepared at the moment I'm not really bothered, I've never seen Christmas as a chore, I adore everything to do with it. Even working in retail for several years hasn't put me off. Though I do now have a lasting hatred of the "Nat and Dean" Christmas album. Strangely enough though, it never put me off Bing, I could listen to him all day long and I would always put his CD on at the end of the working day while things wound down. Now I love that or my Christmas Carols CD on while I cook and the house starts to smell of mixed spice and citrus fruits. Mmmm....
At least most of our Christmas Decorations are all together in one trunk now, making them easy to locate despite the fact we haven't unpacked yet. Though with my inability to resist buying more decorations each year when they're reduced in the sale, I think we're going to need another trunk soon.
I'm sure I'll bore you all stupid over the next few weeks with my enthusiasm for Christmas, so I'll apologise now, feel free to skip my posts!
