Yet another one of my short reviews, although this one is because I only got to watch ten minutes of the show.( Cut for spoilers, swearing and ranting )

I was frustrated as well that Merlin didn't use magic to defend himself against Morganna but I agree with the comments above about the reasons why he did it.
Remember a few episodes before Gaius told him that he must never let Morganna know who he is. He also may not know that he is strong enough to defeat Morganna, especially wounded. If he used magic in front of her as Merlin and she survived I have no doubt she would revel in telling the whole court to rub Arthur's face in it. Then Merlin would essentially have to flee or die, and then he couldn't protect Arthur.

I also agree with the comment about it not being just a scratch. Even if there was no blood he has still been hit with a heavy, blunt object with essentially the entire momentum of a galloping horse. If Morganna hadn't healed him, that would have easily been a mortal wound. He probably had multiple broken ribs and internal bleeding, obviously bad enough to be visible beneath the skin to Arthur when he looked at it.

But mainly what I want to say is that it will really be worth going back and watching the rest of the episode. The reaction of pretty much everyone by the end of the rec post was that it was pretty much one of the best ever. There are so many moments that we have just been waiting for forever! I really hope you get to see the rest and enjoy it. :)
