I have a habit of doing things that I know are wrong yet I do it anyway. So when today went all to hell I wasn’t surprised. This morning I got up with the intention of going to school. I had just gotten off Christmas break and I was in a good mood. When I got to school I met up with some of my friends and started talking. Next thing I know we’re heading over to dunking donuts for coffee. The three of us, my friends and I, ordered coffee and sat down we talked and decided not to go back to school until B block or well second period. I knew It was a stupid Idea but I thought, “What’s the harm just this once” Well there was a lot of harm because after a wonderful conversation of jokes and making plans to go out this weekend a cop walked into DD’s.
He walked over to us and asked why we weren’t in school. My two friends lied and said they were already out of school. I kept my mouth shut. The cops cell phone rang and he picked it up had a nice conversation for about five minutes and hung up. Asked us for ID and when we said we didn’t have any he asked us again if we were skipping one of my friends said he had already graduated the cop looked at me and said “what about you? Have you graduated?” I shook my head no. “So you’re skipping?” I nodded. Then his phone rang again. By this time my heart was pounding. I started thinking about what an idiot I was. The cop got off the phone and looked at me. “You’re the only one who has an ounce of self-respect. You’re the only one who didn’t lie and I respect you for that.” He asked us again for ID and we gave it to him. He said he didn’t know whether or not he’d report us, but we had better get our butts to school.
So my friends and I left worried and then again relieved thinking we might have gotten off Scot-free. Well that wasn’t the end of it. We had placed our backpacks near a tree by a path to the street, (try saying that ten times fast) and when we got back there . . . guess what they weren’t there. Three backpacks were stolen with books and everything. All my valuables were in my purse, which I had with me, so I didn’t loose anything very important. Just one text book two library books and all my notes.
Well we looked along the path no luck so we started walking back to school We got back to school signed in and ran into Mr. Mattos my headmaster. And he said that he had seen us this morning so he knew we were skipping and he had already written us up. All I could think was could this day get any worse. (So far it hasn’t)
