012 [action/written]

[It's fairly early in the morning when Sigmund comes stumbling into town. To say he's in bad shape would be a severe understatement. He's got several nasty gashes, some thankfully starting to scab over, some not, most of them bandaged with what he could rip off his undershirt without getting his armor off. The side of his cuirass is dented in a way ( Read more... )

hates the universe, it was a friendly brawl i swear, .written, .action, latent anger issues, cold hearted bastid, i'll rest when i'm... oh wait, *ic, ended in blood, wounded hero, never gonna forgive himself, sorry ed

[Thanks to the quick and efficient response of Luceti residents Winry has begun the healing process nicely. However it was a severe wound, and she's still weak. So instead of replying in writing, she'll use voice.]

What happened to him?

[Sigmund hesitates before he responds. His voice is rougher than his writing at the moment, and he doesn't want to talk to people. But he remembers Sokka looking for Winry, and from the way she asks, it sounds like she has a right to know. The rest of the village does not.]

He's dead.

[The ache across her chest causes her to stop and think. Ed was berserk, wasn't her? He had hardly recognized her, and... And she remembers hearing about a girl named Xion. A girl who turned into a monster and had to be killed too. Did it really have to end that way? There was no other solution? There had to be... No. Things just... didn't work that way, did it? She ends her silence with:]

How are you? Did he hurt you?

Nothing serious. [He's lying, shamelessly. Even disregarding all of his physical wounds - getting close enough to Edward to finish it hadn't been easy; Edward had... said things. Accused him of things.]

He attacked you.

[He's aware of the fact that he should say something reassuring, but he just doesn't care anymore. To him, she's one of the reasons Edward is dead. If it weren't for them... if he didn't have to stop him hurting others. No. He doesn't hate her, but he's not comforting her.]

It will heal.

[She's not sure she likes how he said that, but she never asked for his comfort. She doesn't need it. Winry's more worried about...]

What was that?

I'm sorry. [She whispers this. For his loss? No, that wouldn't feel right. That it had to end like that? In Edward's death? Yes. Sorry that Edward had to die, and Sigmund of all people had to kill him. Sorry that Luceti was a cruel place, and spared none.]

Don't pity me. [But that sounds more miserable than indignant. Don't pity him. He just killed a man.]
