first i tried to clean out my locker. maintenance had done it for me, because i'm pretty sure that it was a way different lock on my locker. i didn't bother to try, but once i can drive, i want to go out to visit anyways.

i went to talk to dr. ramsay. she was in, and we talked for about 20 minutes. she's bringing me cookies after she gets home. she even walked me to the car to make sure i got there okay. she's amazing. i also gave her dr. queenan's phone number because her family is moving here from vancouver and she wants a good doctor. haha.

dad and i went to the student service building. spoke to dona, who i have been emailing. she said if i withdrew from everything today, i would owe the school a little over $1400. if i kept my TAP (nys grant), i could have used that to pay it off. but i wanted a different solution. someone in either academic advisement or financial aid had told me if i finished just a single class this semester, that my financial aid situation would not change.

my question was: does taking an incomplete for one class, and then fulfilling the coursework, count towards completing that one class?

dona didn't know the answer. we went downstairs to academic advisement; the woman at the front desk didn't know and sent us up to registration and records. the woman at the desk at r&r didn't know, and the lady watering plants at the desk didn't know. she said go back down to advisement. i cried from stress. dad used his cop voice to ask if there was someone higher up that we could speak to about options. that worked.

so a nice lady from academic advisement who was the liason to one of the friggin upstairs offices came up to talk to me. she immediately said "refund committee" and i told her dona had advised me that it was my absolute worst option. she said, "oh." so i asked if the completing one course would count blahblahblah. she said that if i completed one course, my aid package would remain as is and i wouldn't owe the school any money right now.

awesome. she did not know if an incomplete would count towards that.

i got in line at financial aid, to get the answer from someone who would know. after a 15 minute wait, i asked the woman at the desk. she didn't know, but she went and asked a supervisor.

yes, yes, and incomplete DOES count! so what i'm doing is taking an incomplete for my womens' studies course, and withdrawing from my other three courses. i need to print out the withdrawal form from the website (didn't think to grab one at the time because i was so overwhelmed), fill it out, and mail it in.

i went to my womens' studies professor's office. she was on the phone, so i chatted with amber, who taught my winter intercession class. i gave her dr. queenan's information, too. i figure i ought to email dr. queenan and let her know. ha. anyways, i finally got in with the professor and what's happening is this: incomplete this semester, and i will sit in on the course next spring when it's offered again, and do all the work, but i won't be registered for it, because it was paid for this semester. so spring 11 will likely be either part time for me (register for three classes but i'll really be attending 4), or i do a workload of 5 classes. we'll see how i feel. i might just be part time at that point anyway, depending on my health.
