holy moses

so i haven't posted in what seems like forever. let's see.

i did have a post-surgical staph infection. i am very lucky it was the treatable kind. i was out of work for seven weeks. going back was hard to do. even though my body is physically better, the stress from working that job is already taking its toll. my right shoulder, most days, has pain that feels like someone is stabbing a knife from the top of my shoulder down to my spine. my body is saying, "bitch, i am done with this job. pay attention." i am looking for a new job, with a new company, and it's hard. but i will find a new employer and it will be good.

um. what else. things are going better with justin. i'm trying to remember that my expectations are very high, and that i cannot expect him to meet my needs if i am unable to understand what they are, much less be able to articulate them to him. so we are taking it slow, and trying to be understanding.

OH! we got two kittens. i don't know how we ended up with two, but we did. heather got two kittens from her friend, born on earth day. that mama's baby from a previous litter ended up having a litter on the first day of summer. there was an orange one, so i called dibs. on the day the kitten was delivered to us, they brought a second orange kitten, asking if we either wanted it or if we would keep it until we could give him to someone (say, my mother-in-law who has had kitten fever for a while now). we're suckers and we agreed. we brought them inside and started to play with them when justin said, "you know, i think i want to keep both!" i agreed, on the premise that he always remembered that he is the one who suggested it. :D

so now we have mannax, evie, and the two orange babies, rupert and wesley. yes, we named them after the buffy characters. i've been very slowly rewatching buffy and angel, and you cannot judge me for it! we named them very appropriately -- wesley falls down a lot. very cute. we got them on 8/22, and already they have grown so much! it seems that just within the past 36 hours they have learned that pettins are good and purring gets them more pettins. mannax is a good big brother, and we have already achieved cuddles. evie is much better than i thought, and we are at least able to be about a food apart without hissing... although if they get any closer all bets are off. still, they are all getting along quite well.

going back to the gym is good. i'm dropping inches all over the place, even though my weight is staying predominantly the same. i'm within the same range i was pre-surgery, but it is very slowly trending downward. so, yay. it feels good to move again after being sedentary for so very long. i'm not supposed to be doing any weight training with my upper body, but i have to. i'm doing simply the lightest hand weights, and very light weights on other things. i don't want my muscles to atrophy... or my desire to stick with this.

lessee... during my recovery i managed to achieve a semblance of a normal sleep schedule. being back at work has already ruined that. i need a job that lets me sleep like a human being. :/

but on the whole, things are going well. i've gone over to the twitter side, because, omg, microblogging is the thing to do. i can totally handle <140 characters. if you are interested, my username is maggiemunkee. hopefully i will see some of you guys there. ;)

and now it's about time to have breakfast, seeing as how i've been awake for three hours. and then today we are going to my friend amy's wedding! yay!
