Even if it wasn’t exactly human.

Chapter 1

Chapter 2

“You are not fine, Jaejoong.” Yunho said, caressing Jaejoong’s back and Jaejoong stayed quiet.

It wasn’t long when Yunho had found him outside the banquet hall and inside the garden. Previously a moment ago, he had been dragged out by his friend- or he thought was his friend, Jessica and she had unexpectedly jumped onto him physically, causing all sorts of pain than he could imagine.

It really hurt. A lot.

And he didn’t know how to make the pain go away.

Quickly, Jaejoong turned his head to face Yunho- a little too fast- because what he saw made his eyes grow wider.

His eyes also held a glint of red and violet, the same ones Jessica had, but this time there were hints of blue and white- gold even if Jaejoong looked hard enough.

Unconsciously, Jaejoong held his breath. Apparently, tonight was full of surprises and he didn’t expect to participate in dancing nor did he expect his former friend, Jessica to attack him so forcefully because he had coincidentally stolen her dance partner.

And now his dance partner for tonight had some mysterious glassy colors in his eyes.

He gulped.

“W-what are y-you?” Jaejoong finally whispered, his lips trembling at each of his words as he tried to struggle out of Yunho’s hold.

Yunho didn’t say anything and it frightened Jaejoong more when he didn’t answer him. “What happened to Jessica? D-Did you do tha-”He gasped and coughed when his insides came welling up his stomach and then he puked a mixture of barf and blood.

He didn’t remember how much damage Jessica had inflicted onto him, and he had dearly forgotten for a moment that his chest was covered with blood and torn skin. He should’ve covered himself up first, and it was becoming hard to talk because his throat turned rasp from the blood coming through his lungs.

After a moment, Yunho tried to help him back up and Jaejoong shoved his arm away, however, the other man managed to pick him up bridal style.

“No! Let me go!” He struggled in the other’s arms, which didn’t seem to relent at all and he felt his chest jostled with pain. “Ah!” He groaned miserably and Yunho set him on the ledge of the fountain with ease.

On top of his lap to be precise.

“Shh, it’s ok.”Yunho whispered into Jaejoong’s ear; he flinched, but eventually eased up when the ache in his chest wasn’t so overwhelming.

Considering that Jaejoong disliked being treated like a girl, and sitting on the taller man’s lap as if the two of them were playing out a romantic scene was just as bad. Except, Jaejoong couldn’t stop complaining about his injury because he certainly was in need of medical attention and unless Yunho was a doctor, Jaejoong would be grateful for some physical assistance right now.

Or just attention in general.

Carefully, Yunho brushed his hand over Jaejoong’s chest, cautious to remove the other’s hands so he could fully touch the claw marks that the friend had left on the pretty man. Lightly, he skimmed his hand across Jaejoong’s skin, clearing up the wounds until they disappeared one by one, and the aching slowly subsided, allowing Jaejoong to breathe evenly again.

Shocked, Jaejoong didn’t know what happened to the pain in his chest, and when he looked down he noticed that all of the printed nail marks that had been etched on his skin had disappeared; his chest was now only decorated with blood stains. It didn’t even look like he had been mauled in the first place or even touched by anything that could have possibly left a mark onto him. He quickly looked at Yunho and the man remained calm, only giving him a mild smile and Jaejoong still blushed at the sight of it.

“Does it still hurt?” Yunho asked and Jaejoong shook his head, bewildered by what just happened.

“H-how did you- “

“Magic.” The taller simply answered and Jaejoong’s mouth was still left agape, because how in the world could that be possible with just magic? Unless Yunho was a magician of some sort for an occupation and had decided to keep that fact hidden until now, although, Jaejoong didn’t believe for a moment that magic could simply heal within ten- no, five seconds flat. And if he were to possibly place a bet, he would say it obviously did not exist and tonight was simply all a dream.

At least, he hoped it was.

As if reading his expression, Yunho continued. “I used healing magic.” He smiled widely, which radiated through the dark- if that was possible.

Cautiously, Jaejoong wasn’t sure whether to believe his explanation or not-if he even wanted to, but he did know that the pain he was feeling a moment ago was completely gone. However, that still didn’t explain what the hell he was and what had he done to-

“What did you do to Jessica?” He narrowed his eyes at the taller man who chuckled when Jaejoong started to pout.

“Nothing.“ He stated and Jaejoong was far from believing it. “At least, not me. Your friend had left the party not long after our dance had started, and she was with another man. However, the one who brought you here was not your friend.” He mused when he saw Jaejoong furrowed his eyebrows at the last remark.

If it wasn’t his friend Jessica, then who in God’s name have the exact same face as her and recognized him as her friend?

Unless she had an identical twin hidden for all these years and never told him that she would be visiting tonight with glamorous eyes, fangs, and bloody sharp nails to cut him up so dreadfully, Jaejoong would absolutely make sure there wasn’t any connection of friendship between the two of them and simply find another friend. If possible, leave her on a stranded island where she couldn’t lay a finger on him for such humiliation of being weak against a woman with diluted strength.

However, he was still her friend and if he remembered correctly, he was one of her few close friends, who she was honest about her personal life and even, told him about all of her suitors. It would be hard to keep any secrets from him and he had seen her face countless of times to realize who she was amongst a crowd of different faces.

“Then who was it? And what does that make you?” Jaejoong asked, hoping for some clear answers.

Luckily, he didn’t have to go through much persuasion as most individuals whom he had met and were imbeciles to think that he had seduction skills. Though, his friend had told him otherwise, Jaejoong still doesn’t believe he would be capable of winning over suitors with his plain charms.

“The thing is an impersonator.” Yunho slowly breathed. “And it was going to have you for a snack because it likes pretty things. Fortunate or not, I’m not sure if that makes you lucky to be one.”He patted Jaejoong on the thigh and the pretty man flushed at the ministration.

Somehow during the short period of time, Yunho had been touching Jaejoong intimately around his leg, his arms, his back, his face and especially his chest area, where his injury was last made. Jaejoong didn’t mind as much but it was hard to let all of it go unnoticed and he couldn’t bear to hold in a shiver any longer and much less, a moan.

“But that doesn’t explain what you are.” Jaejoong stated after regaining his composure. He licked his lips and caught the other shamelessly staring at them.

“And that’s very distracting.” Yunho commented, ignoring the hard look Jaejoong was giving him and hesitantly breathed. “I am not exactly what you would call ‘a human.’” He said and Jaejoong’s eyes widen as the thought echoed throughout his head, especially some certain questions that surfaced onto his mind soon after.

Not human?

Then how is it possible that you look exactly like a human if you are not human?

Did you come from another similar species?

Are you God?

Another impersonator?

A monster?

Jaejoong’s breath hitched at that last thought.

Yunho’s cold hands touched Jaejoong’s and Jaejoong snapped out of his thoughts. He flinched at the contact but Yunho was reluctant to back away because he slowly laced their fingers together and Jaejoong shivered.

“O-Obviously.” Jaejoong mumbled lowly in response, his lips quivering and his teeth chattered.

Even though Jaejoong was enduring the cold touch, it wasn’t a moment later until Yunho’s hand turned slightly warmer and the pretty man basked in the touch, gradually grasping his hand tightly onto the other. Now that Jaejoong had a better look at the other’s hand, it was slender and long- longer than his own, and somehow they were pretty in his hands.

After a pause, Jaejoong waited for Yunho to continue, however the other started staring off with those eyes full of brown again, as if pondering on what to say and just when Jaejoong was about to ask, Yunho spoke up.

“My apologies, but it’s already late and we are definitely in need of plenty of sleep.” He said, changing the subject and immediately started yawning whilst stretching his arms before he slowly wrapped them around Jaejoong again. However, Jaejoong looked like he wanted to question him for unsatisfying answer and just as he was about say anything, Yunho unexpectedly hushed him with a kiss.

“You should go home. It’s not safe out here and I bet your mother is probably worried about you.”

Unfortunately, Jaejoong had forgotten about his mother entirely- in fact, he had forgotten about almost everything except for Yunho before the span of an hour because of the kiss, however, Yunho had reminded him that he had attended the banquet solely because she had requested for him to. Though, it wasn’t until the realization hit that he was reminded of the dance he had earlier with Yunho and he was dancing enjoyably with the other man.

He gulped, his face turning redder by the passing seconds.

“Are you blushing?” Yunho questioned, his lips still so close to Jaejoong’s slightly parted ones. Silently, he noticed the other fiddling with his fingers quietly and his eyes were obviously looking somewhere else other than Yunho’s.

“N-no.” Jaejoong murmured softly, stuttering on his words and it only made Yunho grin.

“I noticed how you looked at me during our dance. Pleasant, was it not?”

Unable to answer, Jaejoong blushed madly instead and Yunho noticed, eyeing the other’s lips this time and brushing his thumb over Jaejoong’s chin.

Just when Yunho was about to lean forward and land another kiss on those succulent lips, Jaejoong said, “Can’t you tell me what you are?” The question was sudden and nearly caught Yunho off-guard.

“Wha- “

“I-I mean, it wouldn’t change anything… “ Jaejoong suggested quickly before Yunho could turn him down and slowly he gazed into the other’s eyes directly. He was curious- probably too curious for his own good, but he only wanted to know because there could possibly be no way for a person to simply heal him with magic. Though, Jaejoong was grateful that he was brand as new again in a short period of time, just the thought of someone’s simple touch made it entirely possible to believe medicine was worthless and the taller man was sent from God.

And he wanted to believe him.

If anything, what was the man to gain in healing him? If not, his approval in marriage? Or blatantly helping anyone in need because he was that sort of person?

Keeping his identity a secret even though he had revealed to him that he could heal injuries?

After pondering for awhile, Jaejoong’s question was left hanging and Yunho didn’t seem to make any movement to answer it. He just stared at Jaejoong with those dark eyes and Jaejoong could finally see a hint of colors once again.

Silently, Jaejoong continued to stare at those dark eyes, drowning himself into blackness and gradually he felt the world turning up-side-down, his eyes becoming heavy and the last thing he remembered were Yunho’s lips moving slowly.

“I’m sorry, Jaejoong but you’ll die if you hear it.”
