Sunday afternoon I made a trip to the arboretum---I had been trapped inside for too long this dreary week. Not that Sunday was less dreary; the sky undulated in indecision, rapidly waxing and waning in waves of sleet and rain. Majestic, it was majestic to be walking among sequoias and ferns, transported to the Jurassic, hood thrown back, heavy sleet finding its my way into my shirt. Two hours and six miles later, I had my fill of rain and trees, but in a good way. Along the path the mind could roam without distraction, remembering things it should not have forgotten. Those two hours passed like a slowly plodding four. Ferns contort time.
Impromptu arboretum picnic, anyone? On a sunny weekend?
