A possibly interesting thing: since I have started writing most drafts of things longhand in journals and then typing them up as a DOC file, I find that this gives me a first-pass of revision and editing that I generally do not have when composing directly at the keyboard.
It's kinda nice. I can swap around sequences, juggling them for best effect. I can embroider or cull sentences as necessary. I can expand or contract.
I quite like it. It's a good method, at least for me. YMMV.
