Hello!!!!!!!!! I'm back and it feels good!
Tax season was exceptionally brutal this year.
Started in December with what we thought was tendonitis in my left foot/ankle. Spent weeks trying everything (acupuncture, CAM Walker boot, physical therapy) but nothing helped and it was getting worse. MRI was negative, but podiatrist insisted I go to the orthopedic specialist. Ortho feels there is a tear in the posterior tibial tendon (the one that connects from your arch to your calf). Gave me cortisone and the boot again for three weeks and return. This is now February and tax season is in full swing. Cortisone started helping when I developed bronchitis on my birthday. Knocked me on my ass and out of the office for a week. Not good.
After three weeks and two doses of antibiotics, finally over the worst of the bronchitis and the foot is feeling sort of better but not great. Go back to the ortho and told surgery is next/last step. Only problem: I'll be off my foot (no weight on it at all) for 3 weeks, then 3 weeks of physical therapy. No way I can do this before April 15th. So I pushed it to May 12. Okay, I pushed it that far because we have tickets to see Springsteen on April 29 and Santana on May 2. Doctor laughed but said it would be ok and to just keep wearing the boot.
So I hobbled around around the office, working 12 hour days with no days off for a month. Not good for the brain and body in general, but really bad for a bad tendon! And the cortisone started wearing off in April. I'm not sure how I got thru but I did.
So now I'm getting caught up and preparing for surgery and recovery. Oh, and we think the tendon problem is from the antibiotic Avelox that I took for a sinus infection. Problems started the next week, and it has an FDA warning about tendonitis and tendon problems. Same class of drug as Cipro, so be careful! Took it several times with no problems but not this time!
But I'm glad to be back on LJ, Facebook, and Twitter!
