New car fever

Well, in less then a month I get my drivers license back. I basically have to appear in court, plead guilty and accept the lesser charge of unsafe speed for conditions and pay the fine. So no criminal charges, and I got it reduced to a piddly moving violation. My friend who was handling the case basically pulled alot of strings for me, for which I'm eternally grateful.

This leads to another thing I've been itching to do for the last year. I want a new car. I've never owned a brand new car. I always bought slightly used, that way I didn't take the depreciation hit you get just from driving it off the lot. However, I think its time I own something brand new. Going through and doing research this last week, there is really only one contender.

The Subaru WRX STi. I have lusted over it since they first came out. 300hp, 6 speed manual tranny, AWD turbocharged goodness. It has some of the best performance numbers for a car in its price range, and is easily modified to be even quicker. It basically came down to what I wanted more, show or go. I like the looks both exterior and interior of the 350Z, but the car is still plagued with problems, and it just doesn't feel as responsive or comfortable as the WRX. I like the looks of the Subaru, sort of different in a good way, and it just seems more practical then a rear wheel drive coupe like the 350.

Suprisingly I qualified for Subarus 1.9%apr loan, and I plan on selling my toyota and throwing in some extra to get the amount financed down so I can do a 48 month loan and not have car payments that are more then my rent. I've never been a big fan of 60 month+ financing, I like to actually own my cars eventually, instead of doing the perpetual trade in thing. The Toyota has been a good car, it has never left me stranded in the 100k+ HARD miles I have put on it, I must say Toyota makes a damn good vehicle, I would jump in it right now and drive to CA without a single doubt that it would make it, but its time for something new. While the Subaru isn't the most practical car, I figure if I'm going to have a car payment, I might as well get something I really want, you only live once, right?

I know this won't be good for my driving record, but I'm hoping when I get my DC drivers license, the points won't transfer over from Arkansas lol.
