okay, having some vehicle problems on my friends civic. Batterys dead, its only 6 months old...is a deep cycle battery and it has never been completely discharged before.
Jump started it. Drove around x30 minutes and its still dead and as I was driving it I could tell everything electrical was being run off the alternator (turn on the fan the headlights and dash lights cut off for a second...dimmed lights at low rpms etc.
So Im thinking it could be one of two things. The easiest would be that the battery is fucked, but that doesn't make any sense given that's its a relatively new battery.
The other thing im not sure of because im not really familiar with how the eletrical charging system in a car functions. If the alternator is putting out 14 volts, it should be charging the battery in my mind since its a somewhat closed loop without any type of isolators that I know of.
So Im going to pick up a battery charger and charge the battery over night, if it holds a charge then I know it has something to do with the vehicles electrical system.
Anyone have other suggestions?
