Eeks, Brother Bear fanart!
Last weekend, I watched Brother Bear and I think I fell in love with it. The last time I went fangirly over a Disney movie was probably... eh... when The Lion King came out. Hee, I even remember, it was when I was in first grade, and my friend and I raced each other to buy the kissing Nala and Simba plushies. Good times.
But yeah, anyway...
Man, there's lots of good things I can say about this movie. There's some pretty good music, which gets stuck in my head ALL THE TIME. I loved all the characters, but I especially loved the brotherly relationships between Sitka, Denahi, and Kenai. There were a lot of parts that were "Awww" cute. And, remarkably, there's zero romance in the entire movie! Well, not exactly zero, but the main characters never have love interests and the movie focuses on familial and surrogate familial relationships, which is so much better than sappy romance. Visually, the movie is beautiful. The backgrounds are gorgeously colored and I love the effects of the northern lights.
The only thing I didn't like about the movie was the ending. It was sweet, but sad at the same time, unexpected but also disappointing. Ah well.
Actually, there was something else that bugged me about the movie, but in a "Ha ha ha, that doesn't make any sense!" kind of way. Characters actually die in Brother Bear, but they don't ever bleed. When Kenai impales a bear on his spear and the bear collapses on him, I was expecting that, when he got out from under the bear, his clothes would be stained with blood, but nope, they were perfectly clean. Kind of odd, but oh well.
Anyway, after watching the movie, I looked at some BB sites. I was actually very surprised. Where, for me, the main characters of the story had been Sitka, Denahi, and Kenai (the human brothers), the official site as well as all the fansites saw Kenai (as a bear), Koda, and the two moose (mooses, meese, moosi, whatever) as the main characters. Maybe the point of the movie went over my head.
Oh well, anyway, I was looking for some BB fanart, and all I found were bears and more bears and more bears (random nameless bears and OC bears had more fanart than Denahi and Sitka... But the world needs more Denahi and Sitka, dammit!).
Finally, I was trying to catch up on Deviantart stuff, and I was looking at the page of someone who had favorited one of my pictures and their most recent favorite was a picture of young Jasmine and Raja, and I thought, "Aw, that's so cute!" So I went to the page of the artist who had drawn it, and I saw that they had Brother Bear fanart and it was mostly of the three human brothers! Eek! Seriously, I spent more than two hours at the person's website. I was so amazed. Their site has tons of Disney fanart (mostly for more modern Disney movies (Pocahontas, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, Tarzan, Lilo & Stitch, Treasure Planet, etc.)). But anyway, finally finding Denahi & Sitka fanart has totally elated me.
Oh, and random quote, said by a classmate:
"Here's my idea: In the next Harry Potter book, Ron and Hermione get together and they call it 'Harry Potter and the Third Wheel.'" XD
