so in the past fortnight since i got back to work, i have been going out with different groups of colleagues to have dinner a couple of times a week. most of the places we frequented are nondescript. even the bars look and feel the same. roughly the same food even though company is good. but one place that stood out is this restaurant in sri petaling by the name of "eastern delight".

so instead of your usual soupy steamboat , this place serves porridge steamboat. yes, they replace the soup with porridge (very watery, well-cooked porridge though) and you do the usual. the only difference is you eating porridge instead of drinking soup. i was a little sceptical to begin with but i left satiated and satisfied. the seafood and meat adds flavour to the porridge, infusing all the tastes together, leaving this sweet, rich aftertaste.
but the best thing about eating steampot or hotpot is eating in a group. the banter between my colleagues, to the extent of trading playful insults indicated how comfortable we were with each other. i think this is one of the reasons why i rather work in a firm that has nothing to do with law because i feel at ease here. the workload may not even compare to that in a law firm but nevertheless, i am learning other things here. i just want to give myself a chance to try and discover where my real passion lies. so the possibility of flunking my bar exam isn't that bad afterall. at least i get another year's time to test the waters. till then, bon appetit! (yes, i tend to think of food a lot. i believe that we live to eat and not the other way round. :P)
