Ai Orientation

Orientation was totally fun. I was all nervous about it because I knew I had to go alone but I might have even made friends. ^^

I got there earlyand first they had a barbeque set up that lasted forever. So I pretty much just settled down and read. Then they had the welcome speeches or whatever in this smelly tent outside and there was this really old guy in a shirt that an elephant in Thailand had painted depicting an elephant holding flowers, lol. Then we split into groups based on our majors and awkwardly shuffled up the stairs to an empty classroom.

We had an ice breaker where we had to choose a cartoon character that the person next to us looked like and they'd ask questions and try to figure out who it was. Think The Office. So I made friends with this bleach blonde metro boy named Phillip. Then we had to stand up and introduce ourselves and tell people three things about ourselves, only two of which would be true. So Phillip stands up and says, "I'm a drag queen, I [blah blah blah], and I have two cats," and the mentor was like, "Ughhhh, you guys are terrible liars. You're not a drag queen." and Phillip goes, "Nope, I am a drag queen. I have no pets." I was like, Ohh shit, this is awesome.

So we hung out all day and I got his phone number and I asked him where some drag clubs are in the area and where he gets his shoes and stuff. Then we went back into the tent for a presentation in which we were split up into groups and had to recreate either Bert, Andy Warhol, Don King, or Mr. T's hair out of construction paper. It was crazy fun, heh.

Here was our group's model. Take note of the Cthulhu shirt he's sporting. Can you tell we got Mr. T?

And here's the whole bunch.

All in all, fun day. Tomorrow isn't going to be as fun because there will be a lot of waiting in lines but I guess I'll deal with it when I get there.
