Points for Assignment #2a are up! For those of you who haven't turned it in yet, you still have until midnight ET to turn it in and still have the chance of receiving full credit. After that, you can still turn it in until Friday, July 28, but you will only be able to receive up to 40 points. After that, I will not be accepting the assignment!
I'd just like to go over a few things that some people seemed to have problems with during this assignment, just so you guys that missed some things understand why it was that you missed them.
Firstly, this is not Ursa Major:
That *points up* is the Big Dipper. The Big Dipper is only an asterism located in Ursa Major.
This is Ursa Major:
The Big Dipper is clearly visible within Ursa Major, but as you can see the Big Dipper is not Ursa Major in its entirety. So for those of you who missed that one, now you know why. ;-)
Secondly, this is not Cepheus:
What you see there is most of Cepheus, but technically it isn't correct. What I think most of you saw when you looked Cepheus up is a house. That's really only part of it. As my friend Abigail put it, picture a house with legs, running. What I was looking for was this:
I deducted little points for people who made that mistake, because first of all, you didn't leave off much, and secondly, many people seemed to have that problem. But for those of you who missed it, now you know why. ;-)
Excellent job guys! Next assignment will be posted shortly, and I can't wait to see the submissions I get! Keep up the good work!
