The Alarm, a Dream, and a Meme...

So yesterday I decided that it would be a good idea to store sme of my writing online somewhere, just in case. Oh, sure--I have a lot of my writing on a memory stick and in the event of, say, a fire...I can grab the memory stick and my writing is safe.

But I don't take the memory stick with me; if I were away and something like, say, a fire happened...I could lose all that.

So I thought, "Hey, I'll load sme writing to Google Docs!"

Only thing is, Google Docs reformats my Word files. (Anybody know a way around that?)

I know that my fear of losing all my writing in a fire is a bit extreme, but it's like insurance. It would suck to lose all I've worked at over the years.

It was chilly yesterday, so for the first time this year, we turned the heater on.

Within seconds, every fire alarm in the apartment (all four of them), were going off! My first thought was, "Something up in the unit is on fire, and the alarms detected it and we need to start clearing things out of the apartment while we have some time," but then we realized it was just that icky heater stench and smoke from the first time of the year triggering the alarm.

We turned off the heat and opened the windows. The office told us to open windows the first five minutes we turn the heat on...it's happened to a few people so far this season.

But it made me realize that I need a good place to have my writing secured online--preferably someplace I can access all the files.

I'll probably just stash them on my Web space, but I was hoping something like Google Docs would do the trick.

Yesterday's fun with the fire alarm is a reminder that I need to make sure I don't lose all that stuff in the event of something bad.

It also made me realize that electronic files secured online are cool. I thought about all the photos we have, and how it would be nice to scan them and have them safely stored someplace outside the home in the event of something bad.

In a real fire, we'd lose a lot of sentimental things, but photos, writing, and other things can be stored electronically, and I dig that idea more and more...

darthcynthia and I were at some kind of Victorian festival in a small town near a big lake, or the ocean. There was a woman giving people rides in a Red Baron triplane. (Yeah, I know it's not Victorian...it was kinda a mish-mash of times, but mainly Victorian.

The female pilot was in a bustle gown, and I told Cynthia it would be fun to go for a ride. Cynthia didn't think so...she wanted to check some other stuff out and told me to have fun.

We did our takeoff roll down the main street, which went downhill toward the water. I kept seeing powerlines and wondered if I was getting into more than I paid for. We finally lifted off and it was neat seeing the little town and festival below get smaller and smaller.

Then the dream did one of those shifting things, and I was in a room with the pilot.

She sat at a pilot chair in the middle of a large, metal room with no windows. The room was flying, and she controlled our flight with big levers around her chair. I could tell something was wrong, and she told me to check the boiler room, and some other room.

I don't like enclosed elevators because I don't like moving when I can't see I'm moving. And being in a large flying room that was obviously losing altitude was kinda creepy!

We couldn't stop the crash from happening, and the dream shifted again--I was in the back of the triplane.

We were maintaining altitude about 10 feet off the ground as the pilot looked for someplace to put down. I was going to jump into the soft grass below, but the pilot told me not to. She said the force of me jumping would cause her to crash, so I stayed put.

There was no place to put the plane down, though, and we ended up heading for a bunch of trees and a railroad ties retaining wall on a hill. She told me to bail--we both leaped from the plane.

The plane crashed, and I got up. I was fine, and I looked for the pilot.

She was lying on the ground in pain. She aksed me to help her up and tighten her corset. I remember. I helped her up and realized her spine was broken right above her pelvis. She wanted me to tighten the corset so she could stand on her own.

I told her she needed to stay down as I got help. I was holding her up, and she held on to me so she wouldn't fall.

She kept asking me to tighten her corset, but I thought it would look bad if I removed her bodice and did that. Then I thought just holding her in my arms like I was would look like I was cheating on Cynthia--I was really worried, even though I was doing nothing wrong in my attempt to help the woman.

Then I woke up.

roberttx took this and I figured what the hell...

The Lover Style Profile Test:

Your Style: The Surprising Lover
86% partner focus, 48% aggressiveness, 80% adventurousness

Based on the results of this test, it is highly likely that:

You prefer your romance and love to wild and daring rather than typical or boring, you would rather be pursued than do the pursuing and, when it comes to physical love, your satisfaction comes more from providing a wonderful time to your partner than simply seeking your own.

This places you in the Lover Style of: The Surprising Lover.

The Surprising Lover is a wonderful Lover Style, and, like the name implies, is often filled with hidden delights and talents that might not be apparent from a surface knowledge of the person. The Surprising Lover is rather like a geode--sometimes rough on the exterior, but filled with beauty and wonder. The Surprising Lover is thus a gem to find, though it can sometimes be difficult to do so because they often tend to be humble and unwilling to reveal their inner greatness unless they're in a rewarding relationship.

In terms of physical love, the Surprising Lover really shines, often highly imaginative and utterly devoted to bringing the heights of pleasure to the one that they truly love. Given a rewarding, reciprocative relationship, and the right lover, the Surprising Lover can be a delight in bed.

Best Compatibility can probably be found with: The Carnal Lover (most of all) or the Exotic Lover, or the Suave Lover.
