It's very hard when a parent is really sick, my Mum had issues a few years ago and it was very stressful. I'm glad to hear your dad is doing better, and all the best for your grandmother also.
Quick version: Cynth's dad doesn't have the best lungs in the world. After a major surgery for another issue, he got two kinds of pneumonia and some other problems. Like Cynthia mentioned, it's been back and forth, but he's determined (i.e., stubborn! :) ), and that's a good thing to be when you're down.
I've wanted to drive what's left of Route 66 from Chicago to LA. Or the other way...not sure which. I was born in Chicago, and I love road trips, but can't decide if it's cooler to start where I was born and head west, or go the other way.
Since I've never been to California, I'm thinking ending someplace new would be the best.
I've knocked around an idea for an article about Route 66: trying to find one of the few bigtime bullies who messed with me years ago up north and seeing if I could convince them to travel Route 66 with me. It could go good, it could go bad, but it would definitely be interesting.
I've been on parts of Route 66, but need to really hit the whole thing before what's left is gone.
My friend P was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago and her oncologist told her that her attitude would be a major part of her success, it's really important to be determined (and stubborn).
I have a book idea for Route 66 also! I would actually like to do the PCH from Seattle to LA, then Route 66 from LA to Chicago. I love road trips!
