The first time I jogged more than a quarter mile was cool. For me it was a big thing.
A 5K run is 3.1 miles.
The route I run through a park with a friend is .52 miles/lap. Six times around is about as close to a 5K as it gets in any park in the area.
45 degrees this morning with a very slight breeze. Clouds on the horizon, keeping the sun away even after it finally came over the horizon.
The first 2 miles were pretty effortless. The next half mile, the hill on the run was noticeable. The final lap--the hill wasn't as much an issue.
I could have jogged another half mile, but the goal was 5K this morning.
And I did it :)
I didn't run with my usual running/tennis buddy. Cynthia was sleeping and stayed in. It was just me and the birds.
And it was cool.
Half a mile into my cooldown walk, I bumped into my running/tennis bud--he was walking his dog. I walked another mile and a half with them.
Three miles jogging, two miles walking, and I'm sure I'll walk with Cynthia later.
Damn fine start to the day! :)
