Thanksgiving was nice. It was the first time it was just
darthcynthia and me. With the weather going from 84 degrees on Tuesday to 48 degrees on Wednesday (and into the low 30s yesterday and today), the weather has been perfect for the holiday!
What was really perfect was making a nice veggie meal with my Sweetie and hanging out.
I like getting together with family and friends for Thanksgiving, but this year was very special; I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day...
The rest of the long weekend, I'll work, write, and hang out. No shopping; I fear even heading out to buy things we need with the mad rush of shoppers out there. At some point, I need to get a decent cold-weather coat, though. I'll be going to Alaska in the not-too-distant future (Juneau, so it's not gonna be like Barrow or anything that cold), but Juneau is wet and chilly, and I only have a light coat that's not even waterproof.
A lot of the procedures we'll document will be done outside or in open airplanes, so staying warm and dry is just a little important :)
I haven't heard from my tennis bud, but I'm guessing we'll play Sunday morning...if it doesn't rain! The cold is no problem for us (we both grew up up north and like chilly weather), but if it rains...well, that's not good for tennis :)
My friend's apparently wrapped his steering wheel in tennis grip tape so everytime his hands touch the steering wheel, he will be forced to visualize defeating me.
I look forward to the next match.
I had a ton of dreams this morning, but I can't remember too much about them. They were all meaningful dreams, so I hate forgetting things like that. The only dream I remember was a relatively meaningless mix between work and college that turned into a dream about a mall, an airport, and a jungle.
I worked in a big university, teaching some class I don't remember teaching. I had to pee, so I wandered to the faculty bathroom. It was in use. I went to find a regular bathroom, but they were all out of service. As I wandered the hallways in the building where I worked, things morphed into a mall.
People rushed about shopping, and there was more to this part than I remember. I bumped into some friends, but I don't remember much. I was focused on finding a bathroom, but the architect forgot to include bathrooms in the design of the mall!
The mall turned into an airport, and I needed to catch a flight, but I really had to pee! Again, no bathrooms--or they were all out of order.
I went outside--I was gonna find some bushes and pee. Hell, I was ready to go behind a car and pee. I saw some trees and knew I'd finally get the chance to pee! That's when I heard somebody say, "Hey!"
It was an old friend from high school--I recently saw him at a pre-20th reunion get together. He asked what I was doing at the airport. I realized I missed my flight and didn't need to wait for a next flight (one of those weird dream things). We wandered along the sidewalk by the trees and bushes and things morphed into jungle trees. I spotted three toucans and pointed them out to my friend.
We walked along and chatted. The paved walkway ended and we walked along a dirt road. The road turned muddy, but we kept walking. We talked about an old teacher and how she was brilliant, but always told us one wrong thing. The teacher was long dead, but still alive as a zombie, and my friend dared me to find her to tell her she was wrong about something. I dared him to tell her, so we flipped a coin.
The coin--a dime--landed in the mud in my friend's favor. I was the one who had to tell our undead English teacher who knew everything that she was wrong about something.
That's when I woke up and finally got to pee!
