Although, the way things have been between them and how late Jeff admitted his feelings for her; if we truly think unbiasedly, I think we all will realize that even though we won't love it, there is a very possible ending of them finding someone else after changing each others' life like this. They both each overcame their own personal barriers and finally learnt how to love someone, by falling in love with each other. Jeff overcame his fear of commitment and lack of selflessness ; while Annie overcame her tennybopper crush and insecurities.
I guess even after that somewhere along the years they would still think about each other time to time, possibly wondering how things might have had panned out had he turned his cards all in. Or just remembering the moments. I don't know but it feels like even if they do end up with someone else happily, there will always be a feeling(s) running constantly in the background of their heart, that will only belong to the other. It won't be sad in any way though, but it just will be there. I guess that is how life pans out.
I hope the one fic in which you are thinking of pulling off the ending in which they find someone else, has that kind of vibe behind it because if that is so then I will be content that I probably did understand their characters.
So when is it coming out btw? lol

I'm not sure when it will come out though... I've been working on it on and off for a while and I'd say I'm maybe halfway done. I keep going back and forth between it and Advanced Studies. And I recently had an idea hit me that I had to get out of my head, which is pretty much a PWP alternate timeline that picks up after the opening of VCR Maintenance and Educational Publishing. So that'll probably be the next thing I post. Either that or chapter three of Advanced Studies, which should also be up fairly soon.

Yes but to be fair, there was also a reason as to why he didn't make a move. He was so sure that he would hold her back that he didn't think it would ever work out. That cynicism is actually very Jeff.
As for you working on multiple fics, can you please just focus on 1-2 at a time because otherwise waiting time would be much bigger.
Also one of the things that I believe call for their story post S6 is the fact that most fics are based around S2-3 J/A but we all know during that time they were NOT in love with each other. Annie just had this huge crush, and Jeff didn't know how exactly he felt. It wasn't till S5 finale when we see both of them mature enough to realize that they indeed were in love then. But it wasn't the case till S2-3.
That is why as per their natural progress of characters, writing them as two people in love would only be consistent with the show's arc if it is post S6. Or an AU.

For the most part, I don't work on multiple fics at once. I typically focus on one, and when I do work on something else concurrently, it's because I have an insistent idea that I can't shake. But those are usually something short. The PWP story is a relatively short one-shot, so it's not taking up that much time. I don't like to pass up the insistent ideas because that's when writing is easiest and I'm most productive. Other times I might sit there staring at the screen and writing 100-200 words an hour.
Most of my focus right now is on Advanced Studies. I started the post-S6 fic first, but got stuck, and then had the idea for Advanced Studies. So had been focused on that because that's where I was making the most progress. Periodically, I'll add a bit to the other one, but it's been slow going.
I think the reason there are so many J/A fics set in S2/S3 is precisely because they weren't in love yet. People like to tell the story of them falling in love.

Yeah I think I agree with that. They should have taken it in more positive direction. They just made him so miserable. I don't get what is wrong with Dan when it comes to J/A. Instead of pulling the trigger. Either go with them all the way or just drop them! He did neither but let everyone know Jeff was in love with Annie...so what does he do again? Nothing. He didn't want to pull the trigger so he instead made his main character a functional alcoholic. I mean seriously? This is some next level coward behavior in writing.

So soon it will be posted? Any date or ETA?

So when is the next chapter due?

Chapter three shouldn't be too far off, but I don't have a concrete timeline. The person that does my beta reads is on a trip, so probably won't be able to take a look at the final few items until she's back.
