C.C. doesn't like children. Kids can barely take care of themselves and they are not good enough to make interesting company. Most of them tend to be annoying and brash, quiet and spoiled, not aware of the world, their vulnerability or the pass of time. It's not that she likes adults or teenagers either, but since she can remember -how many decades, centuries, can she actually remember?- she recalls that aversion she feels at the sight of a child screaming, crying, laughing.

She doesn't like kids. She avoids them when possible because she knows how strongly they feel and how prone they are to become emotionally attached. C.C. doesn't do emotions well and she can't think of a time when she ever did.

Kids are trouble. And now, with one arm around Mao's still body and the other hand holding a gun to his stomach, C.C. remembers more than ever why she prefers to stay away from children.

She feels something close enough to regret. She should have known better than to take an unpredictable creature as a child into her wing. She should have realized much earlier that a sad child without a future would never be a good Geass carrier. Maybe she even feels a small pang of guilt about Mao. Maybe.
