“You know,” C.C says, her voice laced with bitter amusement, “in a way you deserved this.”
Lelouch just glares at her, partly incomprehending and partly just shocked. His lungs are still aching, and he’s disoriented. He feels as if he’d just woken up from a hangover. He heard that they were something like this: ear-splitting headaches, and dizziness.
But the dizziness or the throbbing of his temples is not what’s at the forefront of his mind.
“Am I … immortal?” Lelouch asks tentatively, searching his hands for a mark, but he finds nothing on his palms. His wrists are as pale as always, and he doesn’t know whether he should feel relieved or not. Once he is in possession of his senses, he decides that he’ll look in the mirror for any signs of a mark.
“I don’t know,” C.C replies, shaking her her head and letting out a loud sigh. “You could test it out, but if you’re not immortal, then I guess too bad for you --” And somehow the sentence is rendered worse that she’s not wearing her trademark smirk.
“What the fuck did you do?” Lelouch hisses out as the wheels in his head start turning. Maybe this is the result of another of C.C’s lies, maybe when he killed his parents --
“I don’t know a thing,” C.C says, interrupting his thoughts, and he can see that she means it because her eyes are solemn. “This shouldn’t have happened.”
“That’s all you have to say?” Lelouch says as he holds himself against the edge of the lid.
“Maybe Suzaku just didn’t stab you in the right place --” C.C suggests, still leaning against his coffin. Lelouch nearly wishes that she were eating a slice of pizza.
“C.C, I was most definitely stabbed in the heart. I felt the world go black --” Lelouch starts, and stops, remembering the last thing he saw was the sky, and the distant voice of Nunnally. And before that, before he fell down, he swore he could hear Suzaku’s quiet sobs while he touched the mask of Zero with his bloodied hands.
Oh God. And that’s when he realises he’s hurting, having trouble breathing -- not just because he’s woken up in some open coffin, but because there’s a searing pain against his chest. He feels it now, growing stronger, and he places his hand against his chest, feeling something like fresh stiches against his skin, and ...
“You’re bleeding, Lelouch.” And C.C sounds panicked, even worried as his world goes black again, and he drops to the ground with a loud thud.
(Verdict The First: he is most definitely not immortal.)
…
The world is a stark white when he opens his eyes again, and it hurts. His whole body hurts, and when he tries to sit up, a stabbing pain tears through him, and Lelouch groans.
“Shh, don’t move,” a familiar voice says, and Lelouch’s eyes widen in shock.
“You --”
Suzaku is at his side immediately, his hands gentle as he brushes a few strands from Lelouch’s sweat matted forehead away.
“What-what happened?” Lelouch asks, not sure if he’s dreaming or this hell or heaven or some other sort of weird alternate universe.
He sees Suzaku frown. “We’ll talk about this later. Rest now, okay?”

And while OP did not specify, this anon would like to see Lelouch's confession to be one-sided, and the only reason Suzaku went through with "the last night", was for Lelouch's sake. Not to say that doesn't change, and Suzaku eventually reciprocates, though. *wide grin*

Hmm, actually I was pretty much planning this, especially because the prompt reminded me slight of an older one, where Suzaku actually did sleep with Lelouch for such reasons XD.

I don't really have any problems with Lelouch not being immortal, but I would like some explanation for how he lived - the other anon's suggestion could work, or you could come up with something else of your own, it just can't be the result of Lelouch or anyone planning it.

I think I'll go with the other anon's suggestion :)
