Characterization of Marianne anonymous February 5 2011, 21:48:28 UTC
We all know she's "Marianne the Flash", brilliant commoner cum Empress, mother of darlings Nunally and Lelouch, and...lady who abandoned her kids.

But what do you think her personality is actually like?

I've been itching to discuss that for ages!
IMHO:
-she's the only known person to be able to tease CC and get under her skin(and, pay attention, not vice versa). So, self-confident, very good at reading and manipulating people.
-she's a pervert/voyeur type like Milly/Kaguya.
-posesses acting skills
-has steel nerves and backbone
-she's made it from a commoner to an Empress.
Suzaku's dream come true. So she is stubborn(as much as Lelouch) and determined, and persistent and patient.
-Knows how to use her female charms to her advantage.
-Had been warped by her ghost-like state. Before it she as well really could have been a loving mother. Afterwards, she became even more detached from any kind of moralty
-arrogant.
- extremely loyal to Charles. A Knight before a wife sort of way.

Interestingly enough, Marianne started off piloting the prototypes developed by the Ashford family, which makes me think that she was a darling who had had some interaction with the family beyond a servant attitude ( ... )

out of jealousy... supposedly

Let´s see: VV is stuck in 10-years old body forever(Claudia, yes. I actually thought VV was a girl when I saw him first time). No sex, only cgkinkimeme maybe. And here goes Charles: falls for someone and dedicates her more attention/plays a family man. Of course, VV slowly goes nuts over the thing! His beloved twin paying someone more attention to someone than to their masterplan/VV himself.

Imagine Rolo's frustration over Lelouch's love to Nunnally as another example of this kind of jealousy.

Which I think denotes her strength of character to be the sort of person that Suzaku failed to be.

I'm curious what sort of person you mean, there.

Official side materials portray her as a kind and loving woman in R1, but in R2, it was said she was cold and calculating. <-lol like mother like son XDDD She was supposed to have plotted to overthrow the 97th emperor in order to instate Charles.

The novels and picture dramas had some interesting content of her being protective of her children, like when she rode a horse into the palace's great hall, and the time she intimidated Charles' other wives in a Ganymede. She was known to pick fights with the other consorts lol.

Then there's her banter with C.C. which has that playful side. I should finish the 1st DS game so I can read her side of their conversations, but alas I am far too addicted to the R2 game b/c of the minigames XD

I would personally characterize her in a similar way to Schneizel, where she's pleasant and sweet on the outside, yet there's something unsettling about her that is not to be trusted ;)

This anon must point out a conclusion reached:

Geass takes form according to the deepest and strongest desire of the person. Rolo's was to stop time and never change, Mao's was to read minds and know all secrets, Lelouch's was to order another to help him.

Marianne's took the form of "possessing someone else". What does that mean?

This anon speculates she would, without remorse, force her will upon others. which she tried to do...

I always interpreted that as her wanting to have someone else's life...

Me too. It's a reasonable subconscious desire for someone who had to fight tooth and nail for the sort of privilege all those around her took for granted, no?

Like Lelouch, but more sexy, less socially awkward, and more trolly/cruel
