one_more_lovely was doing a 5 questions meme, so I asked for some. I could probably answer some of them better, but I didn't want to write anymore....
(1)What was the best/most influential decision you made in your life, and why? Are there any decisions you would do-over, given the opportunity?
Most influential? I guess choosing my field of concentration (computer science) is one of the most influential decisions that I've made. I enjoy what I do, but I don't think I'm as enthusiastic about it as many other people are, and I don't think it comes as naturally to me as it does to other people. So sometimes I wonder what it would've been like if I chose something else. But I guess I wouldn't necessarily do it over. For the most part, I feel like the past is the past and that's what makes me the person I am...and I generally like who I am. I guess there are some decisions regarding relationships with other people that I might want to do over, but nothing really life-altering.
(2)What makes you become interested in a member of the opposite sex? Do you have any "deal breakers" or, things you expect out of a partner?
Well, I could say physical attractiveness, but everyone likes that and I don't really think my interests are limited to one hair color or skin color or anything like that. I don't like fake people--fake personalities, fake laughs, fake tans, fake boobs. I obviously don't go out and party a whole lot, so our personalities have to mesh well. I like people that are willing to experience new and different things. I feel like people tend to dislike a lot of things (sports, art, politics, food, etc.) and I don't think that there's much that I dislike. I like people that are open and trusting, and that genuinely like doing and discussing things with me. There aren't a whole lot of people I feel totally comfortable just doing nothing with. So I guess it's the kind of thing where I know it when I see it.
(3)Please describe for me your ideal house/condo (location, # rooms, things like that)
Ideally it'd be gigantic with everything I could ever want in it, like swimming pools and gyms and crazy gadgets and secret passages everywhere! But realistically, right now I'm looking at 2-3 bedroom townhouses located midway between Boston, Pawtucket, and Natick (so like Walpole, Canton, etc.) It wouldn't need much work, be fairly new, have a garage and central air/heat, and be in a nice little neighborhood where I could walk around.
(4)Do you admire any famous person/people, living or dead? It could be a politician, celebrity, inventor, historical figure etc. What makes him/her so awesome?
Mmmm, I wouldn't really say I "admire" many people. I mean, there have been lots of great people who have done lots of great things and I respect all that, but I don't really fawn over any one person like that. Along the same vein, I'm never really excited to get a chance to meet celebrities, even though I follow a lot of pop culture stories. I guess I believe that everyone is their own person and that everyone has really great qualities about them. I hate the question asking which 5 people in history I would invite for dinner--I'd really just rather have 5 of my closest friends over. I could throw out names like MLK or Einstein or Tom Brady...Nelson Mandela seems like a cool guy...but I don't really get starstruck or anything. I really just admire people that are satisfied with their lives.
(5)Suppose you had the opportunity to play for the Red Sox (your skill level will be augmented accordingly as well), but you have to give up your CS knowledge and can't ever return to it. Would you do it? If yes, what would you then do if the Yankees offered you 2x the money to play for them? If no, explain why, and is there anything that would have been more enticing to you in this proposition than baseball?
The answer to the first part, giving up CS to play for the Sox, is an unequivocal "yes"! I like CS, but I'm not sure I love CS. I love baseball. As far as the Yankees thing goes...I'm not sure. Right now I'd like to say "no," but it seems like once you turn pro, team loyalty kind of goes out the window. It might depend on how much I'd be making with the Sox and how much playing time I'd get and things like that. I wouldn't rule it out, but I don't think I can give you a straight answer without actually being in the situation. I'm not sure if there's anything I like that much MORE than baseball, but any pro sport would be just fine. Actually, entire baseball seasons might kind of drag on because you play everyday and be constantly traveling and there are so many games. I might actually pick hockey over it. But it's close.

Actually, these questions have made me reflect a lot about me and my approach to life. I think I'm pretty laid back and I take things as they come. I like to keep my options open, so I never say never. I also think that the people in my life are just as interesting as any famous person. I dunno if other people really handle things the same way I do...
Any other questions for me?
Also, tonight was really fun getting Peking duck and playing SFIV with a whole bunch of friends. But I haven't gotten used to going to bed early for work yet. I should probably do that now.
