» submissions
❶ You must sign up in order to participate. If you try to submit an icon without signing up, your icon will not be included. Sign ups will remain open until voting for the first challenge of the round is posted. It's requested that you be a member of the community when you sign up, but that is not a requirement; it is recommended that you at least watch the community if you intend on participating.
❷ Challenge posts will go up every Monday and will remain open until the following Saturday. Each participant may enter ONE (01) icon per challenge. If a participant fails to submit an icon by the deadline, they will automatically use their skip. If they have no more skips, they are automatically eliminated. Participants are also allowed to use their skip at any time, except for during the first challenge and the last two challenges.
❸ Submissions must be made in the challenge submission post. All comments will be screened, and all submissions must remain anonymous until after the results are posted. All submissions must be made new for the challenge.
» challenges
❶ Each round will have a specific theme; for the second round, the theme is "Season One". Each challenge of the round will reflect this theme in some way. The main theme in each challenge will be directly related to the overall theme.
❷ In addition to the main theme of the round, a challenge might have a secondary theme that must be included in your icon. For example, a challenge for round one might have a main theme of Suzaku, and a secondary theme of texture, requiring you to make an icon of Suzaku featuring a texture of some kind. This means that your submission for each challenge must fulfill BOTH given themes, main and secondary. The challenge post will explain the secondary theme; if you have any questions about either of the themes, feel free to ask in the challenge submission post.
❸ Theme suggestions are always welcome. If you have any, feel free to leave them in a comment to this post.
» voting
❶ Voting will go up on Saturday and close on Monday, with results going up soon after. Anyone is allowed to vote, though participants are encouraged to take part in the voting.
❷ When voting on icons for elimination, you are required to provide concrete reasons for why you feel the icon deserves to be eliminated. Reasons such as "I don't like the subject" or "It looks funny" will not be accepted. You must explain at least one reason for voting for that icon. It can be as simple as "The crop is unflattering for the subject", but it must be objective. If the mods do not feel your explanation meets this requirement, we will ask you to elaborate. Reasons for favorite icons is optional, but encouraged.
❸ No strategic voting or getting your friends to vote for your icon. You may encourage your friends to participate in the voting process, as long as you do not tell them which icon is yours.
» eliminations
❶ Positive votes will cancel out negative votes. Icons eliminated each challenge will have the highest total(s) of negative votes. That means if an icon received three favorite votes and two elimination votes, the total for that icon would be +1. People's choice icons will also be decided in this fashion: the icon with the highest total of positive votes will win for that challenge.
❷ The number of participants to be eliminated each challenge will be announced in the voting post. The number of icons to vote for will reflect this. Earlier challenges will have more eliminations than ones near the end of the round. If you have any questions regarding how this number is decided, feel free to leave a comment here.
❸ Participants who fail to submit an icon to a challenge and have no more skips will be eliminated. They may participate in the mid-round come-back challenge.
» winning
❶ The people's choice winning icon of the first challenge of a round will be set as the community's default icon for that round. The first two mod's choice icons will be used by the mods throughout the rest of the round (one per mod).
❷ People's choice and mod's choice winners for each challenge may request a banner. The winner of each round will get something awesome (read: we're still working on that, but we swear it will be as epic as the show itself) and will be added to the lims Hall of Fame.
» earning skips
❶ Each participant, upon sign-up, will be granted with one free skip, which may be used throughout the round, except on the first challenge and the final two challenges.
❷ Additional skips may be earned by advertising the community in a public post. The advertisement must be in a community that has not yet been advertised in (so if one person made a post in
cg_media, no other skips my be earned by posting there. Remember, we don't want to spam the communities too much!) Up to two additional skips may be earned. However, skips may only be earned while sign-ups remain open; once the voting for the first challenge goes up, no more skips may be earned for that round.
