You know me. Haven't done much else, except obligatory idle post for Yzak. Also because of the SEED special I had an insane urge to RP because.. holy shit yes. But yeah, other than that, nothing else. Other than this post though, Yzak hadn't done much in a zomg pairing sense in a while, which is what I prefer and like actually. But yeah, threw him a holiday bone.
Concrit away on anything old and new with Yzak, Tolle and Jona. :D
I don't remember what they've done--except they both ended up kissing Riddle under the mistletoe, and Rue's taking care of Obi-kid and had kind of adopted Kimimaro. Uh... More snarking at Cal. Um... seriously don't remember right now. -_-;;;; Sorry
The one thing I'd really like to see more of from Rue is the stuff that differentiates him from Cal-- I know they have a lot of surface similarities, but they are different and that's what I find interesting. Haven't been in all of your threads, so it may come out more in other places, too, but that's the one thing I can think of standing out.
In which I essay like whoa -_-;;;;;;ruechercheJanuary 2 2006, 01:52:59 UTC
Recently Rue's been baby sitting a couple of back-tarded emotionally stunted children and making them be more social. (I can't believe he's actually managing this with any kind of decorum *facepalms* or that he ended up with a ninja and a jedi in his bed last night....) take two emotional retardisms.
My first week. All I remember is the last two days which was just kissing people under the mistletoe and bonding with Himejima and Buffy over shallow things.
Omi got stoned and went camping with Haru, filled out some polls, pretty quiet week.
Sanzo had an even quieter week until yesterday, where he kissed some people under the mistletoe. Oh, and higher than usual dose of retarded flirting with Cal.
River had drugged tea with the masses and then kissed some people under the mistletoe. She had a few nice talks with Mal, and some bonding time with Simon. Her laptop totally macked it with Kisa's laptop, and watched Simon and Kaylee kiss for great justice. Neither of these was a major event, but both were amusing.
I've actually been looking for the chance to crit your River, it's something I actually noticed in your initial app, but I didn't think you would stick with it consistantly.
I think your voice for River is... too constant. I can't remember how exactly she spoke in the movie, but I know for a fact that she doesn't refer to herself as "this girl" all the time. Occationally she calls herself River, and plenty of times she uses the word "I". And while she's often floaty, she also very often flips between floaty and piercingly coherent from one sentence to the next. Something you may or may not be doing but I haven't really noticed it.
Basically, River's voice is more like three or so voices that she switches between apparently on whim.
But that aside, the only part that really bugs me is the 'this girl' thing. Since I know just from rewatching one episode that she can't do it that much. I'm wondering if maybe she didn't start doing that excessively in the movie and I didn't notice? need to buy whut D=
You're right, actually, about the 'this girl' affectation. She doesn't do it consistantly. But there's a reason I've been using it. It might only make sense in my head, and if it bugs enough people I'll phase her out of the habit more quickly than I had originally intended to.
River speaks in third person because she's constantly assulted by the thoughts of other people, to the point where she loses her own internal voice. On Serenity, this was less likely to happen because there were few people, and so her tendency was to slip into it when she was having a freakout of some sort or another. Here, there's hundreds of people and most of them are in some way or another odd. Once she becomes more comfortable, both with the place and with people, she'll start referring to herself in first person. She's already done it with Simon, after they've been conversing.
As for coherency and incoherency, she seemed pretty freaking lucid at the end of Serenity, and I haven't had an occasion for her to freak out yet. It'll happen, but I've been
