Not for the first time, Roxas was regretting not having brought any of the padded foam bats from the gym down to his apartment. He hated the idea of going about without a weapon to hand, and although they were rather inadequate weapons, the bats were better than nothing. The knowledge that in this place it was impossible to harm someone else without being stopped by an electric shock did little to reassure him: unarmed, he felt naked and exposed. Even though he was only on his way to buy food, he was on his guard, as if he expected the shadows to melt into life and dart at him with sharp black claws.
It hadn't, yet, and wasn't likely to any time soon, but old habits died hard.
