Supportive classmate defending a bingo!

In one of my (many) history classes we had to do a group discussion on an important figure in the civil rights movement who came from a family with 10 kids. We ended up with his "early life." Once we were done with the questions and had answers written down, we started talking about how ginormous families are insane and even 5 or 6 kids is way too many. (That may sound high, but I'm in Utah. Families with 8-12 kids are not unusual)

Classmate 1 remarked she only wanted 2 or 3 and she asked how many I wanted. I told her I didn't want any because I didn't like kids and wouldn't be able to be happy putting kids before an education and career and that wouldn't be fair to me or any kids I had. She said, "Wow, that's really mature and thoughtful. It's good you know what's right for you." Another girl in the group piped up and went, "But children give so much meaning? What's wrong with you? Why don't you want kids?" Classmate 1 immediately replied, "She just said why and there's nothing wrong with her besides her using her brain to figure out what's best in her life. Leave her alone."

I was so happy ^^
