Frauenvernetzungswerkstatt???

.... Come on, German speakers. This isn't a word. This is a joke you're pulling on a foreign girl who wouldn't know any better. Right? Right?

Oy. So much for any pride in antidisestablishmentarianism or floccinaucinihilipilification. When words like Frauenvernetzungswerkstatt come up just in the natural course of doing German homework, you know there have to be some REALLY scary ones up the road...

ETA: Well, now I'm all distracted. Guess what? The longest published word in German is apparently Donaudampfschiffahrtselektrizitätenhauptbetriebswerkbauunterbeamtengesellschaft, which is the name of the association for subordinate officials of the head office management of the Danube steamboat electrical services.

And even if we're discounting that one on the basis of it being pretty much unusable in any kind of everyday conversation (whereas antidisestablishmentarianism actually does come up from time to time, if you're a person of a certain type), there's still Rechtsschutzversicherungsgesellschaften, meaning insurance companies which provide legal protection. Anyone might have occasion to use that.

... *sigh*
