Didn't get the job.

Dammit.

ETA: For what it's worth, I'm not terribly upset or anything. I get to keep my free schedule and pursue more hobbies and whatnot. I just have to continue trying to do it on about $160/week. Ugh. And I feel bad, because I really could have done that job quite well, so I can't help fretting a bit over why I didn't get it

I'm sorry :-(

As to why you didn't get it I suggest you talk to the people you interviewed with. Ask them for advice about what qualities they think you need to improve in order to stand a better chance next time such a job comes around. (You did know them from before didn't you?)

Thanks. I think I will do this, but I'm planning to wait a week or so, to avoid triggering an anxiety/depressive attack. (Not that my current feelings are that intense, but sometimes if I dive into examining a 'failure' too close to the event, I accidentally flip that nasty little switch in my brain. =P)

Do keep in mind that there is a huge difference between things you are no good at and things you haven't learned yet.

And as I've discovered this spring, things one isn't good at in one's 20ies and 30ies might actually work out quite well in one's 40ies. Not that I expect you to wait that long ;-)

agreed -- not that you asked. But if person #1 doesn't work out which happens a lot, then you'll be in line to be re-considered.

And yeah, look on the bright side -- a whole lotta art supplies coming your way. More time to sing, play, and make sure your bike tires are well-inflated.

Phooey.

Thanks very much for the advice you gave, though! I appreciated your support a lot.

Unfortunately, "enjoys the spontaneous generation of new and peculiar emoticons" was not something it occurred to me to add to my resumé.
