Didn't get the job.
Dammit.
ETA: For what it's worth, I'm not terribly upset or anything. I get to keep my free schedule and pursue more hobbies and whatnot. I just have to continue trying to do it on about $160/week. Ugh. And I feel bad, because I really could have done that job quite well, so I can't help fretting a bit over why I didn't get it

As to why you didn't get it I suggest you talk to the people you interviewed with. Ask them for advice about what qualities they think you need to improve in order to stand a better chance next time such a job comes around. (You did know them from before didn't you?)

And as I've discovered this spring, things one isn't good at in one's 20ies and 30ies might actually work out quite well in one's 40ies. Not that I expect you to wait that long ;-)

And yeah, look on the bright side -- a whole lotta art supplies coming your way. More time to sing, play, and make sure your bike tires are well-inflated.

Thanks very much for the advice you gave, though! I appreciated your support a lot.
