... Okay, I think I might be sick of sweet potatoes with butter and cinnamon now.
(Hehehe. Anyone read Nietzsche's essay in The Gay Science on "Brief Habits"?)
The damn paper is finally done. I don't know if it was the worst one I've written in college, but it was certainly the hardest. Four days to write six pages. God almighty.
Amazingly enough, though, I think I did really well on my Japanese final, with only about forty minutes of study. Go me.
One final and one paper left to go. Urrgh.
However, despite not being Officially Done yet, I am going to my first Fun Thing of the Vacation this evening. The students from the music history class who haven't gone home yet are all getting together with Fung, our teacher, and Carleton, the head of the department, for a potluck. We discovered that, as it is teacher-approved, we can actually get reimbursed by the school for whatever we bring, as long as alcohol isn't listed on the receipts. Thus, after a flurry of excited e-mails back and forth, the menu for the evening has become epic. I think the unofficial plan is to see how many world cuisines we can hit in one meal: Paste i fagioli (a hearty Italian bean-and-pasta stew), aloo gobi (Indian dish based around potatoes and cauliflower), pork and shrimp shu mai (dumplings), polu (a kind of rice pilaf from the Uyghur region, on which Fung is an expert), pesto garlic bread, two kinds of salad, several kinds of wine, and -- from me -- baklava and brandy-soaked strawberries for dessert. I'm so psyched.
Okay. Time to clean the kitchen, go buy walnuts and honey... and maybe study a little. Somewhere in there.
