Har, actually, I've sort of been doing the same thing, except with more anxiety. Deadlines whiz by, I go oh shit life sucks, and then I'm not in any rush to finish it anyway.
Well, I may be ridiculous, and in fact I hope I am because I like ridiculous things. But expecting a 3.5 GPA from myself is not. Not at a school where grade-inflation is so rampant that the majority of the class gets some sort of Latin Honors. Is it too much to want myself to be at least in the top 50%?
I... don't get your joke.
I will be in deep finals mode when you come. We will hang out anyway, as per my new 'slacker' method of dealing with academic pressure.
Also, it's cute that you're still calling this 'home'. I like that.
Incidentally, where did 'heyo' come from? I've always liked it but I don't really know what it means or what cultural paradigm I'm referencing if I use it, so I don't.
I do love you. No one seems to understand that my requirements for myself apply ONLY to myself -- it honestly doesn't even occur to me to judge other people by them. I think all of my friends and family are wonderful and brilliant and over-achieving. They can set their own standards for themselves. I reserve the right to set mine. And then we'll all pat each other dry and administer hugs, kleenex, and tea as necessary if things don't work out.
I have a joke for you, actually. Well, it's not so much a joke as something I'm trying to memorize between now and 4:30 when we have our second-to-last rehearsal before the winter concert.
A Choristers' Guide To Keeping Conductors In LineThe basic training of every singer should, of course, include myriad types of practical and theoretical emphases. One important area which is often neglected, however, is the art of one-upmanship. The following rules are intended as guides to the development of habits which will promote the proper type of relationship between singer and conductor

Ah, beautiful. So you're memorizing it to recite it or you're memorizing it to attempt every single one on the list during rehearsal? You should email it out to everyone.
And, ok. I suppose it is more useful to use the argument "I will love you even if you don't make a 3.5, and the thing about grades is that they're dumb and don't reflect your intelligence in any meaningful way, which I know you already know but is worth reiterating."?
Um. Also, my day is being somewhat unproductive. Alas. You should come visit me some time over winter break. Like in January. From LA it will be cheap! Yay! From Minnesota, expensive. Boo!
I left you a phone message too but if you get this first it's cool too-- So Naomi's parents are finally coming to terms with her (YAY) and they would like to talk to your parents. Could you mail me their number or give me their email or something so I can send them Naomi's parents' number? Thanks.
