Three Recs for Fandom Appreciation

china_shop is doing her periodic Fandom Appreciation Challenges week and today's challenge is to rec three stories over six months old.  I've chosen a theme for my three recs, SGA fusions because SGA is my fandom and fusions are something SGA fandom does very well.  All three are John/Rodney and rated PG to PG-13

The first is The Physicist Bride by Zulu. It's a fusion with The  Princess Bride.  This main part of the story is set in slightly altered SGA universe after The Siege II.  The casting is just brilliant.  Rodney as Buttercup, John as Westley, Teyla as Inigo, Ronon as Fezzik are just handled beautifully as are the other roles.  Though, I do have to single out the use of the Genii as the villains as a particularly nice touch.  Especially what they Want from Rodney instead of marriage.

Next is Bump in the Night by Unamaga.  This story has the SGA characters take the place of the Buffy characters in Welcome to the Hellmouth/The Harvest.    Like the previous red, the casting is just inspired.  Rodney as Buffy, Teyla as Willow, Ronon as Xander,  Elizabeth as Giles, and John as Angel.  What I really love about this are all the changes between the original episode and the fusion, because of the different characters involved and how naturally they felt.

Last, but not least, is Cycle and Circuit by Owleyes_Arisen.  In this story John and Rodney and placed into the world of Avatar: the Last Airbender.  John, or Zohn as he is named in the story, is a bender from the Fire Nation, while Rodney,  or Mer, is a waterbender from the Northern Water Tribe.  The story tells the parallel journeys of Zohn and Mer from children, to young adults, to leaving their homelands, meeting each other, and beyond into a wonderful moment of transition.  There is also a lovely small moment with Zohn and two canon Avatar characters that would take place in early season two of Avatar.
