Been watching quite a few movies since the beginning of the vacation. Most good, one laughably awful. Some of the movies that I can remember off the top of my head

It SUCKS that you guys get movies so much later. You had better watch Dark Knight more than once, though. It's worth it, trust me. I've seen it five times and will probably watch it again before it leaves theaters. And if you think that's bad, Jason's seen it ten times.

Yeah, it does suck pretty bad that we get everything later that you guys. But, the release of Dark Knight here isn't as bad as the Marvel movies. We just got Incredible Hulk on August 1st and we have to wait until the beginning of next month for Iron Man.
By the way, have you watched Incredible Hulk yet? I want to see it, but I don't know if I should watch it in the theater or wait for it to come out on DVD. As for Iron Man, I'll definitely be catching that one in the theater.

Ummmmmm......I guess I can say it's better than the first attempt. It all depends on how big of a Hulk fan you are. I'd say if you have the spare cash, go for it. It's pretty entertaining and the final fight is awesome. Iron Man, on the other hand, is well worth the ticket stub. Definitely watch that one in theaters.

I wouldn't say that I'm a huge fan of the Hulk, but I do enjoy superhero movies so if it's good then I'll watch it. I was watching some trailers today for it and it looked quite interesting -- more than the original. I noticed that they didn't keep the actors from the first movie, though. How were they?
Just wondering, for the Fantastic 4 Silver Surfer movie, was Galactus ever shown? Or was that just a false information? I watched it today and noticed that there were no clips whatsoever of Galactus, despite all that I was reading on the internet.
By the way, I liked the second FF4 movie a lot better than the first. They didn't take too long with the plot development like before, which was good. Plus there were much more action scenes to keep things from becoming boring. The jokes were good, but sometimes I felt they were overdoing it a little. What did you think of it?
Re: Best Comic Book Movie Evertjosef22August 11 2008, 07:22:23 UTC
Fantastic Four 2 was a bit underrated. I thought it was a good representation of what the FF was about, but with how it fared in the box office, a sequel might not be possible. I agree with you that it's better than the first, though. Rumors are that there might be a Silver Surfer movie spin-off. Galactus was just a stupid cloud in that movie.
Edward Norton is always money, regardless of which movie he's in. Liv Tyler was okay as Betty Ross, but I thought Jennifer Connolly was better. I thought the casting in the first one was good and should have been kept, but there's nothing wrong with the new cast.
Just an FYI, this Hulk movie has been cut down from its full potential. An hour or so of footage was left out. Hopefully they put it all in the DVD.

Okay, I'm glad to know I didn't miss out on anything. So many people were saying that Galactus was in the intro for like five minutes or so and then not in the rest of the movie, so when I actually watched the movie I was a little confused. I wasn't sure if something was taken out before the Japanese release or not, so I thought I'd ask and see. It was kind of a let down that they didn't actually show Galactus; I wanted to see more than just the cloud.
Unfortunately, it looks like I missed out on watching Incredible Hulk in the theater (while I was there, they didn't have it listed on the "Now Playing" list), so it looks like I have no choice but to wait for it to come out on DVD. :\ Oh well.
Dark Knight rocked, by the way. I can see now why you guys have watched it so many times. I don't think I could do that, though. The ticket cost me 1,800 yen (which is around $16), which makes it way too expensive to be going there often.

Wow, they really rape you up the butt on those movie tickets. Cripes, that's crazy! With that much, you can watch The Dark Knight four times over here (early morning shows are super cheap). I hope that was the price you paid for an IMAX showing. It wouldn't be so bad if that was the case.
Re: Best Comic Book Movie EvercetaAugust 11 2008, 23:57:03 UTC
Yeah, it's really expensive. I'm sure it's probably cheaper in some theaters, but I'd probably have to travel a lot farther away from the city in order to find them. Unfortunately, by the way things look from the theater's pamphlet, there are no discounted morning shows. They do have discounted late shows -- around 1,200 yen (around $11) if you go there after 8p -- but since I have to ride the train that doesn't work out too well. If I miss my last train, then I'll have to pay around 5,000 (around $45) in order to get back to my apartment via taxi

It's unfortunate that you couldn't see it on IMAX. It makes a difference, especially for that movie.
Yeah, I forget sometimes that Japan's a very cramped place. At least now, you don't have anymore movies to look forward to. I know after the Dark Knight, I'm pretty much burned out on any other movies coming out this year.
