The Hunger Games Fandom - OH GOOD PEOPLE ARE ALREADY BEING HORRIBLE.

I usually try to stay out of ANYTHING involving race, because I have an unfortunate habit of saying the wrong thing / not making the poing I'm trying to make?

Guys. GUYS. RUE AND THRESH ARE DESCRIBED IN THE BOOK IN SUCH A WAY AS THERE CAN BE NO DOUBT AS TO THEIR BEING BLACK.
It was pretty obvious that District 11 was drawing clear parallels to plantations in the American South? Like, where it's the agricultural district, so you'd think they'd have the most food, but even though they work the land they can't keep what they grow? This... this isn't subtle AT ALL you guys.
Also, to everyone thinking that Rue = white because she reminds Katniss of Prim:
SHE REMINDS HER OF PRIM BECAUSE THEY'RE BOTH 12 YEAR OLDS WTF.
I can even kind of see if you missed the physical description in the books, fine. But if it's actively PISSING YOU OFF that they're being played by black actors in the movie? You have a problem. That's not a normal reaction to have. Someone being black isn't a bad thing. God.
Don't even get me started on Cinna. Yes, his race isn't said outright in the books. That automatically makes him white now? BITE ME. It may not be your head-cannon, but God, could you maybe SEE THE MOVIE before you decide that Lenny Kravitz is OMG SO WRONG for the role? Because there are way too many people complaining that his casting has RUINED THE MOVIE for them, and ok, fair enough if he does a shitty acting job? But seeing as he's been in approx. 3 secs of film in both trailers combined, I DON'T THINK WE'RE REALLY IN A POSITION TO JUDGE THAT YET. And again, if your problem is that Cinna is not white: Seriously, wtf.
One last thing. Saying NOT TO BE RACIST OR ANYTHING LOL right before SAYING SOMETHING THAT IS CLEARLY RACIST? That doesn't make it, you know, NOT RACIST.
And I'm sorry for yelling at my F-List about this, because you guys are clearly awesome and not the problem. I just really needed to vent SOMEWHERE.
