Also, here's a tiny bit more of the Notre Dame part, which I ended up writing in the comments. This is the last scene of that story. This seems a good place to put it.
They curled up together at the top of the Notre Dame as the sun began to go down. Gerard flicked ash from his cigarette down over the city. His head hung as though he was feeling down.
Frank kicked him with a cloven stone hoof. "Fuck 'em, right?" he said, when Gerard turned to look. "If they couldn't see how awesome you are they fucking deserve each other."
Gerard sighed, his eyes big and sad. Frank stared back, making progressively more awful faces (gargoyles can make pretty awful faces, and Frank was good) until Gee cracked a smile, shaking his hair forward to hide it. Mikey leaned back, craning to look at his expression until he unbalanced and had to flap his stone wings to keep upright. Gerard put out a hand, keeping him steady.
Bob squinted into the setting sun. "Hey, Frankie, isn't that that family of birds that crapped in your mouth for a month?"
Frank had to launch himself at Bob in retaliation, giving a wild yell. Gerard started hiccoughing laughter, leaning on Mikey. Mikey rolled his eyes and threw a bit of gravel at Frank. "Moron," he said, but the corner of his mouth was turned up in a reluctant Mikey smile.
Ray had been tapping out a beat with his claw against his knee, lost in his own head. He only looked up when Bob succeeded in throwing Frank off and Frank crashed into Ray's lap.
Frank lolled backwards, grinning up at him woozily. "Hey, where are you," he said. "We're cheering up Gerard, fucker."
Ray blinked down at him, then looked over at Gerard and Mikey. They had their heads bent together now, talking earnestly. Frank heard something about unicorns. A moment later Gerard started sketching something against the balustrade with the back of his knuckle.
Ray raised his eyebrows."Why?" he said. He tilted his head to one side. "I think - I think he's okay."
