Marvelous AUs! I'm particularly taken by the last one - have several times wondered what Levi would have been like. Possibly a much more suitable apprentice for Holmes. (It would be interesting to somehow combine #3 and #5, and have Mary jealous of her brother for being more acceptable to Holmes.)

that would be interesting. you could almost make it an amalgamation of 2, 3, and 5---both children are alive, with their mother, and Levi makes friend with Holmes before Mary...only I don't know if I could stand to hurt Russell *that* much. ^_^

As usual you amaze me and put whatever paltry writing talents I think I have to shame. But that's all right, I would rather have that than not have this story. No. I is so interesting, No. II has so much possibility, No. III is heart-wrenching and to me, by far the most interesting story -- so many undercurrents! So many terrible things that might befall... No. IV reminded me of that line from A Retrospective of the Partnership, when Russell says she often wished she had been taken instead of Holmes, No. V was just awesome. And it makes me wish for spin-off fic.

This will help to tide me over until someday when Her Courage With Gifts is finally done.

1. This was so clever. I completely saw this as one of the Granada episodes. ^_^ They could have so easily met this way...

2. This was one of my particular favorites, for seeing Mrs. Russell as well as Mary. How interesting it would have been if Holmes and Russell had still gotten together, even had they met in California...

3. Thank goodness it didn't end like this, although it wasn't for lack of trying on Holmes' part. *snort* Still, this was very well done.

4. Brought tears to my eyes. 'nuff said.

5. The best of all, sweet and sad and hopeful all at the same time. Bravo.
