Our wonderful military is so underfunded that our soldiers don't have proper boots and uniforms and we have to ask US and British carriers to take us to foreign deployments but we can afford to spend millions to have a shitty Tim Horton's set up in Kandahar? What a fucking joke. This actually makes me ashamed to be Canadian and that is not easy ( Read more... )

The only thing I ever used a tim Hortons for was midnight coffee on long trips past Hope. The coffee was pretty decent, but yeah, now that you mention it nothing behind the counter even looked all that compelling as I recall.

I suppose having a little slice of home, even if it is crappy, might make some of those young fellas feel better. But then a decent pair of boots never hurt either ....

We always used to stay in Hope when going back to Vancouver to visit family. I loved it there. Of course, back in those days there wasn't a Shitty Hortons....

I still think the money could be better spent elsewhere, regardless of morale. Besides, most of them would probably prefer boots to Tim Hortons. Most of them would probably prefer not to beg transport rides from you Yanks as well...

The Canadian military is such a joke. While I would not want to be overmilitarized like our friends down south, there has to be something in between so that we are not such a joke...
