I had turkey bacon for the first time this morning. It was, surprisingly for someone as fussy as I, very good. I actually prefer it to real bacon which is greasy and always makes my stomach rebel.
Went this afternoon and saw "V for Vendetta" which is the first movie that has excited any interest in me since Sin City. It is also the first movie I have gone to see in the theater since last August. In any case, I enjoyed it and thought it very well done. Hugo Weaving did a marvelous job, especially considering that you couldn't see any facial expression. The only thing I didn't really go for was the whole "Phantom of the Opera" like love story angle. Natalie Portman redeemed herself nicely from the acting debacle that was the Star Wars series.
One couple who looked like they had a rather large stick up their ass got up and walked out about halfway through. Good riddance. I find it amusing that hardcore conservatives and/or hardcore liberals can't ever see another point of view.
I also read a lot of negative comments about the movie, especially people who say that a "terrorist" can never be a hero. Somehow everyone with less power who rebels against the larger power is now a "terrorist" - now-prevalent terminology we can thank North America, Britian and Israel for. The world is not black and white and I can totally see how a terrorist can be a hero to those who feel oppressed and that they have no other choice left to them.
In any case, enough of my preaching. Good movie - go see it with an open mind.
