Saturday saw my last day of teaching.
It's strange how your last day on a job can fill you with sense of fondness for it even when you know better in your mind. To be honest, I really enjoy teaching and had very few problems with what I did. It was really fun interacting with so many people and even though the job position was stamped as 'teacher' I felt I learned a lot more than I taught. I don't think I've ever cried my last day on the job but when my kids and their parents starting crying I could feel those croc tears starting to well up.
Having said that, I'm looking forward to starting work at The Company tomorrow. I'm pretty dern nervous about it seeing how EVERYONE there will be my senpai and I know next to nothing about the actual work. I only hope I can survive the first three months (the probationary trial period) which will guarantee a modicum of security.
The more I look into The Company - the more it seems like a great place. There's no dress code. 'No Overtime' is the company policy. They'll pay a big chunk of my rent every month. The working hours are reasonable. The shacho seems like a nice guy. It all seems nice.
All my former coworkers were trying to cheer me up with the old 'Dude, you have 1-kyu, you can stop bullets with your schlong!' routine but passing a test and working 40 hours week at a Japanese company are two different things.
Man, I hope I can get some sleep tonight. ;.;
