In which Sky is getting ready for the New Year.
• Happy New Year's Eve! I am not partying this year (for the first time in several years, actually). Possibly I will put on a dress and make a fire in the fireplace and do something for myself, but we'll see. Probably I will just curl up in bed with a good book and a glass of champagne for the stroke of midnight.
• I got snowed in yesterday. There were three inches the night before, and when I woke up it was still snowing. Luckily, this time I had internet to entertain me.
• I made a stew the night before last while it snowed and I wondered if I would be able to leave my mountain the next day. (The answer to which ended up being, "Not safely or warmly, no.") It was (and will still be, I assume, when I eat the leftovers) very good. I am comforted whenever something goes right for me in the kitchen. It reminds me that I am actually a fantastic cook sometimes, I just need to be a little more careful when I decide to experiment.
• Also I made fudge yesterday. It is delicious.
• Clothing tally for yesterday: jeans, knee high socks, fuzzy socks, long sleeve shirt, short sleeve shirt, sweat shirt. Clothing tally for today: tights, jeans, knee high socks over the jeans, long sleeve shirt, short sleeve shirt, sweater. Soon I will put on a jacket to go out. And a hat. And gloves. And possible ear muffs just for good measure.
• I will be spending a good chunk of today writing HP fic for a gift exchange. The biggest challenge for me in doing this was that my giftee asked specifically for plot and not smut. I have never actually written a single fic that the plot wasn't just "get A and B into bed for sexytimes". BUT GUYS. I have the most fabulous plot ever. I am so proud of myself. I ran it by dragon_gypsy and she didn't say, "That sounds retarded, what are you thinking." Real fic, with real plot! Imagine that! (Of course, I am making so much shit up, and taking some liberties with the canon. But nothing huge.)
• I bought myself this ring for my birthday. It's been a long time since I've bought a ring, but the ones that I buy for myself always seem to be the ones that last for me. And even though I'm still only a few pages into Fellowship of the Ring, that particular phrase rings true for me. I will be putting on my left ring finger, because I can.
