[gig notes] Eisbrecher // new TBE

I missed out on the support band, Jesus on Extasy, because of German punctuality. See, in Australia when it says that the show starts at 21:00, they won't get going till 22:00 or even later. So when my u-bahn to Alt-Mariendorf was late, I wasn't even worried about missing the support... but I did! And I'm bummed! But then, it meant that I didn't have to wait for Eisbrecher long.

It's been almost three years since I've found them and I'm insanely glad that I have seen them live now. The performance was a lot heavier than I expected - the guitars were at the forefront and Alexx's voice was a lot more powerful than on record too, which I liked a lot. They played a few too many new songs, but then I guess they were promoting the new album, so nothing wrong with that, and with the quality of the music, I really enjoyed everything. The old stuff, however, made me lots of happy - listening to Mein Blut with the stage lit with red lights was awesome. Then, Vergissmeinnicht was superb - so much energy! Out of the new stuff I really liked Ohne Dich (reminded me of Justin a lot - lyrics) and Kann denn Liebe Sünde sein?

Alexx has a real presence on stage and he interacted with the audience a lot. The gig sold out - he was stoked about that and he kept joking too, which made for a good atmosphere. Overall, a great gig. Also, he is very stylish - was wearing a nice shirt, a silky vest and gloves and these tight pants... took it off gradually and then bam, shirtlessness. So I'm shallow. Sue me.

In other music news, I'm listening to the new album by the Butterfly Effect, The Final Conversation of Kings and I am loving it. It's been a while since Imago and the wait has been worth it. The melodies have grown a lot more mature, but the honesty remained and Clint's voice seems to get better with every song. Adoring Worlds on Fire and 7 Days at the moment.
