Note: Just a little shorty! I watch this show for Dan and Blair so I genuinely hope that the writers don't fuck it up (I'm sure they will because why would they let any of the characters make mature decisions that show their growth?)
"One kiss and that's that," Blair said primly, as though agreeing to a luncheon she'd rather not be agreeing to.
"One kiss," he repeated, "and that's that." There was emphasis on the finality of the matter. As if just as the sentence had ended quickly and on point, so would this thing that was going on between them. "So?" he said, imagining himself leaning in to kiss her only to be rewarded with a resounding smack to the cheek.
"So," her voice broke, forcing her to clear her throat. Was he serious? Was she serious? Was she currently in the act of preparing to kiss Dan Humphrey? She watched his eyes move over her face, focusing first on her eyes then on her lips - X marks the spot. How long was he going to wait? "Oh, for crying out loud, Humphrey!" she muttered, before grabbing the lapels of his coat and tugging him toward her, their lips meeting for "one kiss and that's that."
Except it wasn't just that. They stood frozen for a moment, lips pressed firmly together, Blair's eyebrows raised but her eyes shut. Before she could think about what this meant (or rather, she did think about it but quickly pushed it out of her mind), she let out a soft sigh against his mouth and slid her hands over his shoulders to the back of his neck.
His hands found her hips, his fingers feeling the silk of her small slip dress. 100% silk felt good, but Dan had a feeling that her skin felt even better. But this was just a kiss and that was that. For the moment though, he pulled her toward him and nudged his tongue against her lips until she opened her mouth.
He maneuvered her carefully so that her back was pressed against the wall, with one of his hands pinned against the wall above her head and the other moving back and forth over her waist. They moved fluidly - it wasn't rough nor was it rushed. It was like breathing in air after you've just finished running. Steady, measured, intense, natural. Without thinking, Dan's hand ran down her hip and to the back of her thigh. Knowing just what he was thinking, she lifted her leg to hook it over his hip.
Finally, he broke the kiss. Only instead of pulling away to survey the situation, his mouth dipped down to the hollow of her neck. He kissed her all over the exposed area which prompted her to arch into him. Blair unclasped her hands from around his neck, running one of them over his shoulder and up his arm until she met his hands. Their fingers entwined and she murmured his name, while he nibbled and sucked at her neck.
The sound of the elevator arriving to her floor alerted them that they would soon be interrupted and they were in quite a predicament. Quickly, Dan and Blair jumped apart and straightened themselves up to the best of their ability. Without thinking, Blair reached over and fixed the collar of Dan's coat as he pulled up the strap of her dress.
"I -" Dan started but the elevator doors slid open and he knew he couldn't say another word.
"Blair," Chuck said, sauntering into the room with a look of determination on his face, "I need to talk to you." He looked at her pointedly before turning to Dan. "And you," he weighed his words, choosing carefully, "what are you doing here at the Waldorf residence?" Somehow, Chuck Bass could make the simplest question sound like the most condescending insult.
"I was..." Dan started before the sound of heels behind him caught his attention. He turned to see Serena striding toward them. "I was looking for you, Serena. I uh, I heard about Lily. I wanted to make sure you were okay," Dan covered quickly. Mentally, he congratulated himself on the excellent lie. However, he hadn't been able to even care about Lily's situation all night, he'd been so focused on Blair and what was or was not going on.
"That's so sweet," she flashed him the typical Serena smile with a hint of sadness behind it. "But...I think we should get going." Her eyes flicked toward Chuck who was currently trying to tug Blair into the other room for some privacy.
Dan looked at Blair, trying to convey everything he was thinking and feeling with a single look. "See you, Waldorf," he said.
"Later, Humphrey," she nodded quickly at him, but both were being lead away from each other by their on-again, off-again currently ex-significant others. As Serena stepped into the elevator and Chuck began ascending the stairs, brown eyes met brown eyes and both Dan and Blair had a feeling there was more to that than just that. A lot more.
