Random Helping #103: Quit messing with my life. Hurr.

May 10, 2010 22:42

Today was a perfect example of how negativity can become an epidemic if it's spread uncontrollably.

Well, okay, epidemic is such a strong word but the point I'm trying to get across is that, if someone doesn't stop the cycle, it would eventually affect the people surrounding that particular person who's feeling negative.

Which, in today's case was me. I was so stressed about my course selection that I had unleashed some of my temper on my poor brother (again) and on some of my friends by accident. It got a bit awkward after that

I dare say that Mr.F is responsible for my stress today.

Okay, the thing is, I decided to sign up for these subjects for my current semester:

- Introduction to English Literature
- Business Communication
- Principles & Practice in Language Teaching (P&P)
- Bilingualism.

Originally, these were the subjects I signed up for:
- Principles & Practice in Language Teaching
- Bilingualism
- Introduction to Language & Linguisics (Ling&Lang)
- English for Phonetics & Phonology (EPP)

But after hearing so many stories from my seniors (and at their recommendation) I decided to drop Intro to Ling&Lang because the syllabus was too difficult for me (I later learned that it was a subject meant for the 2nd-year students. -___-;;) and switch it with English Lit.

I learned later that I had no choice but to drop EPP as well because the lecturer will only show up in September. I was like, WTH? Couldn't they have informed us BEFORE the semester began? Upon knowing that, I decided to drop EPP and replace it with Business Comm.

And yes, because of those reasons, I lost count how many times I had to edit my Course Selection.

Earlier today, I was shocked when I saw that instead of only 4 approved subjects, I had 5 approved subjects. My eyeballs practically popped out of my skull upon seeing that earlier this evening. NO WAY I'd do 5 subjects in a single semester; I'd die before I even reach the first half!

It wouldn't have been so stressful if the subjects were something like Expository Writing or Study Skills (where we had to learn how to write proper essays for the first subject; and where we had to learn how to get along with our group members and do community project in the second subject I mentioned) I wouldn't mind doing it if the subjects were practical like those I've mentioned.

But most of these subjects are theoretical (which isn't my cup of tea, actually. I'm more of a practical person than a theoretical person. I like to DO things not hypothesize on them. OTL) and requires TONNSSSS of reading (but then again, which subjects don't, right?) So clearly, I am not liking Mr.F's decision he made for me (he's the Head of Department of the English faculty) I don't like being forced to do or study things I'm not ready to study.

*inhales deeply*

Okay. I can complain all I want and the matter will still remain unresolved, yeah?

*sighs* I'll leave it at that. My college buddies and I are planning to attack the HoD's office tomorrow and stand by our decisions.

Wish me luck. :)

In any case, a friend of mine was sweet. She showed me this clip to make me smile. And it did. :D Thought I'd share it with you guys; in case you guys are interested. :D
