What a week!!!!!
Well, there has been good news and bad news this week. The bad news first, I think.....
....we've been infested at the apartment with mice, but a few days ago there was a visit from the friendly neighborhood Orkin man who set loads of traps, found their nest (which my cousin and I managed to get out of the basement...) and then got rid of the two I'd already caught and caught two more as we were standing there! I've since managed to get rid of another half-dozen at least. What he thinks is that a mama mouse came in and gave birth to the rest, which is what I've been dealing with ever since. They've been nesting down there and feeding up here. Oogie!
SO that's dealt with and it's now MUCH quieter at night ;)
The other bit of bad news is that our tv was stolen the night before last. We were upstairs at my mom's....at that point not so much avoiding the mice as helping her post-operatively (she's fine, no worries there, but I was helping with her dressings and putting cream on the stitches so they wouldn't itch as much, wrapping it all up, etc.) so we had spent some extra nights upstairs also giving the mice a chance to find the traps LOL I'd also done the "au-naturel" thing, the friendly "go elsewhere, little mice!" thing by putting peppermint oil into cotton balls and placing them EVERYWHERE around the apartment. Suffice to say, the place smells like a gigantic candy cane right now. I thought to overwhelm the mice but in the end overwhelmed myself! SO I'd had a window open (screen still on, fan on in that window as I"ve done throughout the summer) and had a light on in this place - turns out someone realized I wasn't hope and jacked open the window, tore off the screen then came in and stole our TV, the DVD remote (nope, not the tv remote and not the dvd player LOL), the cord going from the cable box to the tv (NOT the power cable from tv to the power source) then they just walked out of the apartment - opened the front door and walked out! SO it's obviously someone from the neighborhood who had been watching our building - there are several options there, but a couple in particular I'm watching NOW. I've got a spotlight on them and am doing a series of things to stop them from doing this to anyone else - my mom and I have both been hit now in the past 2 weeks. Nothing in 30 years in this building, now two times in two weeks. Damn. SO I'm on it. They'll be caught and soon.
NOW for the good news! I received a letter in today's mail: It was from the one place we've NEEDED for ages now to hear from....the Health Department! They've approved our plans for the bakery. Now, this is the one thing we were looking for to start the build-in process and then in the next couple/few months hopefully get open! SO it's the one bit of HUGE good news we'd needed, especially after the week we'd had! That's it, I've picked the final plans for it all today and am just thrilled to BITS with it all!
